Get a free Xbox 360 Slim replacement!
Well it’s not that simple. If you just so happen to have an older model Xbox 360 that is not compatible with the upcoming disc update, then you can request a replacement for free. How do you know your console isn’t compatible? Well if you’ve noticed that you can’t play your games anymore, then you are eligible. (assuming it’s not just a bad drive)
“This issue manifests itself a as a unique ‘disc unreadable’ or ‘disc unsupported’ error on the screen. We are also able to detect this issue over Xbox Live and are proactively reaching out to customers that may be impacted to replace their console.”

When is this update? I have an older xbox prob. 5-6 years so I want to be on the lookout for this. I assume it is a required update as well.

I was reading an artice and its going to happen on May 19. I have an older XBOX 360 module too. I hope this update doesn’t screw up mu 360.

Well Well Well. I just answered my own question. Over on Geek.com they were talking about this as well. In their article, they mentioned that it will be a 250GB Slim model as a replacement as well as a 12-month subscription to Xbox Live Gold. Doesn’t sound like too bad of a deal to me.
