Frontlines Demo - Silver Members Wait
The benefits of Gold are small to some and very small to others so I’m not sure how this bit of news will help. Silver members on Xbox Live will have to wait a week to download any free content including demos from the Xbox Live Marketplace. Content marked with a red circle and slash is content that falls under this new restriction. (image courtesy of Major Nelson)

Gold members naturally have immediate access to the new content but if you’re only sporting a Silver account, then you’ll have to wait. I know some of you know about this as it was implemented with the latest system update but I figured I’d let the rest of the world know as well. It just dawned on me after the Frontlines: Fuels of War demo was released.
So Gold members enjoy and Silver members find something else to do for a week. (smile)

I agree with you Cleric! I don’t mind paying for a quality service with Xbox live. As with anything else in life, a quality product, service, etc is just going to cost more. Just like the Ferarri owner knows that he has paid the premium price for the best driving experience, I know that I am paying the premium price for the best online console experience.
I would love for XBL to be free, but I do realize that Microsoft is a business and this service is not cheap to provide. Capitolism rulez!

i wouldn’t be opposed to adding more instead of limiting to make it look like more

To step away from the Silver vs. Gold debate, this demo is VERY impressive!
I think the game is going to be pretty damn good. Then again, the Demo for blacksite made me drop $50 on that the week it came out, and I already sold that off!
Still, the graphics are impressive, the story line is eerily plausible, and the idea that the game is acted out by the player as a soldier, but told from the point of view of an Associated Press writer is pretty freakin’ brilliant (English major geekyness coming out!).
I love Squad Based combat games, where you don’t really have to rely on the squad or direct them. Much like Halo. You get the feeling of a large battle, lots of people fighting along side you, but you don’t have to worry about giving them orders like in GRAW or Rainbow Six. Area 51 was similar, where you could give a few orders here and there, but a lot of it, the AI handled themselves. I like that.
The graphics are certainly “this gen” - not much has been spared here, save for a bit of dynamic lighting, which might be nice… then again the level is broad daylight in a desert-city, so maybe ‘night-time’ missions will be a bit more impressive.
All in all, I’m fairly excited about what I’ve seen so far, and will certainly consider picking it up!

I heard the demo wasn’t that great. I’m going to have to try for myself.

where demos are going to be available both on PS3 and 360 at the same time, MS may want to relax the silver restiction…
