In light of the misleading and speculative thread posted earlier. I felt the truth needed to be told.

Current status in US at Amazon.com:

http://www.eproductwars.com/dvd/#1

Blu Ray leads every catagory by an ever increasing margin.

Blu Ray has already won in pacific markets including Australia:

http://www.theage.com.au/news/home-theatre/hooray-for-bluray-its-looking-like-a-winner/2007/02/15/1171405337968.html

Credible news agency CNET explains why Blu Ray will oulast it's rival:

So let Wallyworld sell a $99 HD-DVD player. By then the format will be the DiVX of the industry. Many analysts speculate MS is losing faith in the format and point to the "Elite" and it's lack of the HD-DVD drive.

lol, whilst I agree that Blu ray is in the lead at this time, I think its harsh to call the other thread misleading. The only thing that was misleading was the title but then it was linked to an outside article.

What you need to do is find a article that says Blue-Ray is poised to win after the Walmart story broke. Your linking articles from February.:irish:

It's said that Wal-Mart is the markets most important retailer, and their DVD sales equal 40% of the DVD movie market... If this is true, it could be a huge blow to Sony & their Blu-Ray sales/support.

However, most people don't even own a HDTV yet (Especially Wal-Mart shoppers) so the extra PS3 price (Blu-Ray), 360’s HD-DVD player, or a in-house HD-DVD player (with $20 to $35 per movie) is useless for them. It’s also overpriced for many because you NEED a HDTV to get anything out of buying those products.

Lets see how good those Wal-Mart In-House standalone HD-DVD players sell first before proclaiming Sony is in deep doodoo. I can't help but believe that most people don't care to see their movies so clear that they can spot pimples on an actors face, or nose hairs... To me HD is useless for many movies.

Anyways, Digital distribution (Like music) is the way of the future ... Now bring on faster download speeds/Better compression/Larger Hard Drives/movie purchasing ownership for no more than $15, and you got a deal!

Anybody remember when Circuit City was shilling DiVX? This is alot like that.

If Wallys does sell 40% of all DVD's then 75% of those come fished out of their $5 bins.
