I have a new blog out regarding the latest bad rep the 360 has been receiving regarding a variety of things.

Part 1 deals with the Xbox 360 Elite.

If interested, read here (http://gamer4432.gametrailers.com/gamepad/index.php?action=viewblog&id=79578)

Note: Part 2 link posted in sig and in a later post

I like it so far.

MS lost credibility by releasing the Elite. They unwittingly validated many of Sony's points of contention.

I love how it reiterated the Blu Ray position and could be the first indication of the defeat and loss of faith in HD-DVD.

A few of the authors opinions are invalid however. It is foolish to feel "ripped-off" for buying premium at launch. Like all products improvements should be made over time and this console is already a year and a half old.

I'm happy with my xbox360 and don't feel ripped off for buying the premium.

I don't get how they can compare Xbox 360 with Mountain Dew products.
Regular MD costs the same as Code Red.

Those rumors have been around since the Elite announcement. Expect the rumors to be around for awhile, just like the Elite ones.

With good cause though. There was legitimate documentation of it, but that was from before the Elite was announced so I wouldn't be surprised if the size is upped.

You need to fix some things...

"HDMI cannot be used in graphical presentation comparisons - as all 3 SKUs support HDMI display". = That's wrong.

"That is a big factor into why HDMI is so popular these days - its ability to play uncompressed audio on sound systems that support it." = Not true... It's used mostly for a slightly sharper picture (Perception) because no pictures can show a difference between Component & HDMI. The real reason AV Buffs want HDMI is the fact that it carries BOTH Video & sound in one cable while being all digital... Too bad people are human with human eyes & human ears... Only a dog could HEAR the sound difference, while an Eagle can see it.

"Your $80.00 will go to the following:
- 100GB more in HDD space (not including partitioned data built in)
- Black controller
- Black system
- Black headset

$80 for a gothic makeover and more HDD space. That is what is going to be so Elite about the Xbox 360 Elite." - You also get the HDMI cable to utilize the systems graphic abilities with the best connection widely known... Something Sony didn't do.

"The Elite will not pack in the new 65mn chips, so therefore its capable of having the same problems as the Premium and Core systems." - Not true at all... It is not known that is causing problems... Not everyone is is experiencing problems, but they have the same chips... I wonder how that can be?

and the fact that the Elite has an HDMI port built in, even though both are HDMI supported (Premium is supported via Live Update). - What the Hell? How does the Premium support HDMI by way of LIVE update?

I somewhat agree with this = The latest victim of bad reputation (in gaming at least) is Microsoft and their...interesting pricetags for accessories and add ons lately.

The rest is your own convoluted crap.

Btw... "Pricetags" are two words.

I meant to replace HDMI with 1080p. I render the HDMI chord useless as all 3 SKUs support 1080p, and since the HDMI support on the Elite wont support uncompressed audio, I find it useless to even add.

Thats the reason why I did not add the HDMI cable to the advantages of buying an Elite - its useless (personal opinion).

You need to remember, its a blog. Where opinions are expressed. Thats exactly what I did - express opinions.

Oh, and I almost forgot...

"Afterall for $20 you can get a 20GB PS3 that comes with built in BR."

At that time of that writing... You already knew that Sony discontinued the 20 Gig SKU and there have been ZERO available in stores, so why would you say that?

...or they COULD say...

For $159 you could save from the Elite with added HD-DVD (a losing format) you can have a PS3 with BR then add 320GB external or replace in internal HD.

Yeah... I guess you could spin it that way... How much extra for the EXTERNAL HDD & Blu-Ray movies that justifies the extra costs/usability of the product?

No, in order to level the playing field you'd have to add the HD-DVD and Wifi, that would put the Elite above the the PS3. The difference in the cost between the two could then be used to purchase a larger HDD......I think that's what Sir was on about.

Does the PS3 come with an Arcade game/HDMI cable & a Headset?

You guys are not really comparing reality, and HD-DVD/Blu-Ray is not mandatory for gaming (Well it is for PS3 because of Sony's decisions) but not necessary for good games... Microsoft also offers High Def movies on Marketplace, but again... That doesn't relate to what game consoles are mostly purchased for.

Another argument is not needed.

HDMI yes...Wireless capabilities out of the box yes...next gen dvd player yes... two of the three you still have to buy seperately for the 360...

Wireles/Blu-Ray shouldn't be mandatory for gamers/customers to pay the extra costs... Can you say that over 50% of customers would use it?

How many even have 1080P HDTV's or even buy $25 movies a pop? How many even buy a GAME console to buy & watch movies, than play games?

Those two things shouldn't be pushed on the customer at a higher price, and they are not needed in a GAME console.

wireless should definitely be included... and you don't need 1080p to effectively watch a a hd-dvd or bluray...just a hdtv...

I highly doubt that 5% of gamers would even use wireless... So why add the costs to something 95% won't even use?

Also, how many even have HDTVs to get that High Def picture from Blu-Ray... Maybe 20%? So close to around 80% of the population... Blu-Ray is useless right now.

The major advantage Blu-Ray has over Digital Downloads (Marketplace 1080i/720P) is picture resolution = 1080P, but then how many even have a 1080P HDTV (5%?) and how many of those are gamers, and how many of those 1080P HDTV having gamers buy into Sony's PS3 for Blu-Ray?

Sony made a big mistake by adding in Blu-Ray, because it's useless for those who don't have HDTVs = Add extra costs to those who can't even take advantage of it unless they spend even more after buying the PS3 ($600+) for games.

Would it be smart to by a 1080P HDTV just so that you can take advantage of Blu-Ray in your game console to justify it's expensive price?

Yes. Both sites did. As did stores. My Walmart sold 20 gigs up until 2 days before the announcement. I would know, I take inventory.
