Xbox 360 Elite Exchange Program Idea

I was thinking here for a little while and decided to come up with an exchange program idea.

Xbox 360 Premium/Core Exchange:

- if you have purchased the MS extended warranty and are still within your warranty period, pay $80 to go from Premium to Elite

- if you have purchased (w/receipt proof) the Premium in the last 90 days, pay $80 to upgrade from Premium to Elite

- no MS extended warranty, pay $120 to go from Premium to Elite and $140 to go from Core to Elite

- current Premium owners only with a console in the repair process, pay $50 handling fee to get an Elite shipped instead of Premium replacement

How many of you would've agreed to this exchange program had you fit in any of the criteria?

I'm game for this. Although I, myself, am now outside of the warranty period, I'm sure theres folks out there who may have just purchased the console feeling they've been done over a little.

I have the MS extended Warranty runs out Dec 15 2008,yes I would go for it.But MS will never do it ,wish they would .Little upset over this myself can't afford a another 360 unless I shoot my wife but I love her.So it looks like the HD will help me out.

Yes, because the bigger HDD seperately is $179 then me paying $120 to get the Elite with the drive would be a value.

You have contacts with MS show that to them sometimes companies are only looking at the big pictures not the ones that got them there!

i would've had a program like this all ready to go with an announcement like this....MS would've been the media darlings to all their fans had something like this been done....i can almost guarantee that.

I love the idea, makes good sense to me. Especially the one about consoles under repair (not that everyone's are broken, by any means), it would probably bring more people to upgrade.

but it just makes sense...the prices are negotiable but i think you guys see where i was going with it. MS would still be making money as the Premium/Core has already been purchased in each case.

but i believe as a fan, it's a very feasible solution and one that most would agree to.

speaking as person that bought core (because thats the only one i could find when i bought my xbox) and then i bought all the addons that come in the premium package - clearly I overpaid for my current console, I just hope i can deal with my current 20g drive until the price drops on the drive, its what i want most out of that bundle.

It would help greatly... The bad press is eating up Microsoft, and owners are hating the Elite no 65nm chip idea... Thinking that the 360 failure problems haven't been fixed.

I wish I could help them understand that the Elite, is for those who have a HDTV with HDMI (Very few compared to standard owners), and the V3 of the HDMI wasn't available when Microsoft launched the 360... And that it's very possible the problems have been fixed even if it has the same tech.

Microsoft is now catering to the majority of people who are in the High (Elite) Medium (Premium) Low (Core) brackets of income... It's not a mistake like the Hardcore gamers think.

I don't know about you, but I buy a game console for the games... 360 wins hands down in that category for me.

Also, I don't pay over $10 for MOVIES = Blu-Ray fails for me. I also believe Digital Distribution is the future for movies like music, not Blu-Ray.

All you're seeing right now in terms of games is due to 360's time in use. Wait for the Blu-Ray capacity to start paying off then we'll compare. Unless you want to compare titles with what 360 had in March of 2006.

The comparison of value the media is making right now is what I've been saying all along.

Digital "ownership" won't happen any time soon, not in this generation and even when it does it will suffer compression loss and storage issues.

ya know this thing could even be offered for a limited time. a 30-day Exchange Program. that way the $ hit would be minimal on both sides if MS and retailers had to work together for any surplus of old systems etc.

There will be no exchange program. Not from MS anyways, stores like EB might run a deal like they did for the many versions of Gameboy - but there will be no official exchange program.

I would do those exchanges, though I would expect the upgrade from the vanilla 360 to the elite to be more than $140, if going from premium to elite is only $120. I would make it $125 and $200, really. Those prices are still pretty reasonable, considering the upgrades - especially for those consoles out of warranty.
