Max out my Hard Drive space FTW?:(
I already paid $70 for this 360 game... How much is the PC version that comes with everything?

UK prices for the Pc versions (http://shop.gameplay.co.uk/webstore/advanced_search.asp?keyword=oblivion&platform=PCS&ref=HOMEPAGE)
I was looking at it for myself lol, works out cheaper by a pretty large margin.

And that's why the 360 fails with this DLC at $30 after I already paid $70 for the game... I’ll wait to see if a GOTY edition of Oblivion comes out, just like Morrowind, and I won't buy unless it's $30.

Since I am waiting for the download...
Only problems are GoW won GOTY and all the content is now too big to fit on a DVD9.
...BluRay doesn't sound too bad in that case does it?

No... DVD9 is fine. Oblivion got close to 5 Gigs and the Shivering Isles download is less than 1 Gig = It would all fit on a 8.75 GB DVD9 disc.
Also, better compression techniques can further DVD9's lifespan to where Blu-Ray is pointless... It is so far.

The Oblivion disc contains 6.4GB of data. I popped it in and checked. That means with SI and Knights of the Nine alone you would almost max out that DVD9.
More compression would yield longer load times.
BluRay has already proved superior with tested real-world better load times on the PS3 version (dispite cries from 360 fans that it was slower). The added capacity is just icing on the cake.

Yes, I made a screen cap showing the capacity of the Oblivion disc at 6.4GB.
Then...making my point even better it was discovered to have a second partion at around 500MB.
I will need to redo my screen caps.

I just assumed it got deleted as it completely vanished. Good stuff with the screen cap though.

that's a long time. it didn't even take me that long to download the Shadowrun beta and that was huge.

They had to have restricted the bandwidth for this (and likely other) downloads. Thats something they did not do for the Halo3 tease and should have.

Well that's strange... I would have thought Oblivion for the 360 would be no bigger than the PC's version...

So thanks for checking. However, adding SI & KotN to the 6.4 GB OBLIVION disc would not even be 8.5 Gigs on a 8.75 DVD9... So there is plenty of space left.
Also, Compression gives you faster loading times over uncompressed files... And loading times are really up to the developer.

wrong because you'd have to uncompress then load instead of just load
6.4 + 800 = 7.2 + 993.75 = 8.193...minus the extra downloads.. add in the disc securities...i dunno it's close...

Funny, I've always heard that compressed files load faster than uncompressed files.

Well, compressed files would load faster from the source, but then you have to spend processor cycles uncompressing them for use. So long as the Xbox isn't doing anything too processor intensive at the time, it will come out ahead. I don't know for sure, but my guess would be that compressed files do tend to load faster.
