According to ChartTrack, the UK's leading console tracker (still quite poor though lol), the PS3 has broken the UK record by selling 165,000 consoles through it's debut weekend. It's second to the PSP which sold a whopping 185,000 in its debut weekend. Guess we still have a thing for Sony huh.

As always, take this with a pinch of salt, you should just wait for Fridays announcement of the official numbers.

Nice if true... Sony needs all the help they can get. I just hope many of those don't come back after not selling on EBAY

Doesn't really make a huge difference to Sony as they've already made the money from the sale of those consoles. What could hurt them is the second-hand market where users return their consoles and then those consoles are sold second-hand for a lower cost.

I seriously doubt anyone would be willing to pay £400 (that's the second hand value of the PS3 in Gamestation in bradford, where I live) for a second-hand, allbeit a near mint version, console when you could buy the brand new one for £425 with a full guarantee.

Fastest selling console ever. Blows all kinds of holes in those worthless "not selling" theories. Good for them for actually having product to launch with.

In just the UK... Get it? It's not like it's all of Europe, and that AFTER A YEAR DELAY... I would hope that it can have a product to launch with & a HELL of a lot of PRE-SALES for record breaking numbers.
