Of course it will sell. I was reading the Bungie forums and laughing at all the Halo Zealots trying to break the price down. It went something like this....:

New campaign: $20
New Maps: $10
New game mode: $10-$20
Halo: Reach Beta: $10

Well you can always blame Microsoft for jacking prices up. Its been said on the internets that campaign is longer than originally anticipated and so Microsoft felt that the value should go up with that increase in length.

Watched the demo of it on GameSpot...wasn't exactly blown away (but I didnt expect it to be). For $60 on an expansion pack I am already turned off, so if I ever resume Gamefly or begin to rent games via stores I'll give it a go.

Other than that, for you Halo junkies enjoy. I'll be playing my backlog (my copy of Dead Space is still not opened).

They seem to claim this is more than an expansion and a full length game. So the only draw back is it comes with existing Halo 3 for multiplayer (great for someone new) and all DLC maps. The bonus is also the special co-op Firefight mode (Horde meets Halo 3). Plus you get access to the next multiplayer beta Halo: Reach.

From what I understand, yes. All the map packs will be included as well. So many people will be paying for content they've already bought.

Which is exactly why the game is and going to sell well for $60.

Personally, if video games wasn't a legitimate business about profit, they should offer a MP-less downloadable version for $20. Considering the MP is that of Halo 3 and its an expansion pack, $20 is a price I would pay.

Yeah, I will admit it that I will probably pick it up as well. The Halo IP is one of my favorites and although I am not a huge fan of the MP I do like the coop and the story of Halo. Always has been solid from my standpoint.

I'm looking more forward to Lost Planet 2 and Army of 2 40th day for my next co-op needs, also Left 4 Dead 1 when I find it on the cheap. Sheesh now that I think about it there are about 10 or so games I still haven't played that I want to.

Halo 3 multiplayer is just another disk. I think the reason I and many others are questioning this purchase is because without significant graphical/gameplay upgrades like the jumps from Halo 1-2-3. and the episodic feel of Halo 3: ODST make it seem like just a campaign upgrade rather than a full-fledged game.

Day one purchase for me. Huge Halo universe fan from a story perspective. Not a big MP fan any longer after CE but I have to play through the campaign and do so via coop with friends.

Ive been reading up on ODST's Firefight mode - which got me interested in the game. However not enough to pay $60. Now the game is a def. pick up when I can get it on the cheap.

i played a lot of Firefight at PAX and at Microsoft's pre-PAX event and ODST is every bit as good as they say it's going to be. i couldn't believe it being that i haven't finished the fight and i'm not a huge HALO fan anymore.

but this game has managed to make itself different believe it or not. i'm glad i have this puppy on the way!

Picked up Halo 3 again. Went to FYE to buy DiRT 2, saw Halo 3 marked at $14.99 new (requires $30 mail-in-rebate).

May not been the biggest fan of the series after 1, but enough of fan to collect them.

Bungie has released a new vid doc for ODST. I really haven't been paying much attention to the details of ODST lately but there were 2 things I heard in this video that I liked.

They're getting rid of dual wielding and bringing back health packs. I like the sound of that. I'm still kind of on the fence about when to pick this game up. I'll probably have it in my hands next though.....

Well reviews are coming in and most have said the SP lasts 5-6 hours. That's closer to Bungie's earlier predictions when they called it an expansion, not their new 8-10 hour full game prediction. I guess the price hike wasn't really warranted.

I was surprised to see like 5 people in line at midnight at Wally. I expected at least 10-15 people for a game like this. Maybe they all are waiting for the TRU deal that starts in 6 minutes (get $20 gift card w/purchase + Rookie action figure).

Was thinking of jumping on it but I figure I'll just wait to get ODST for $39.99 (though I will probably wait til I can snatch it for under $30).

Thats no diff. than COD4 its primarily a single player game. I dont think anyone expected a 40hr sp game.

Well at our GS there were 28 people and to say could the game be better yes it could be but I feel after playing Firefight mode which is damn right awesome and throw you get all the maps on the MP disk,because I never bought the maps.So to me it's worth the price

The game rocks. The SP campaign played via coop on Heroic with 2 other friends took us about 5 to 6 hours to complete. I would imagine solo it will take closer to 8 hours on that difficulty. It might be on the short side by I feel it is worth the 60 bones for the following reasons...

- The gameplay is just awesome. The pistol changes up your tactics and takes you back to the days of Halo CE. You truly are a different character in this one and it significantly changes up the gameplay in a great way.

- Atmosphere. They nailed the feel for this game. The isolated, loney, deserted rookie ODST in search of his squad. The music and night time environment are very well done and provides a different feeling Halo game.

- Firefight is the shit! Loving it. Just fantastic and is the best version of this type of mode in any game to date.

- The extra maps on the disc that some bought at I believe $10 a shot for 3 shots is a heck of a deal bundled with the entire Halo 3 MP experience, the campaign, firefight and all the same frills as Halo 3. Great value in my mind.

- Replayability is awesome. You cannot see everything the city has to offer, get all the audio files and truly experience it in just one go. The game left me wanting to go back and play through it again.

- High production values. Bungie nailed it again and dare I say it I am enjoying this one more than Halo 3 when it first hit.

Overall, that is why this game rocks the house. Really digging it.

You say you want a 10-12 hour campaign, and yet you plan on getting Modern Warfare 2 without objections. MW2 will be about the same length as ODST.

I thought it came with all the maps from Halo 3 and the single player game for COD4 was like 6 to 8 hours. Im pretty sure the MP on ODST is pretty good. Face it pimp your mad because you suckz at halo LMAO!

Well I it picked up and it took me about 6 hours on Heroic. I really wasn't all that impressed with this expansion. I found most of it to be rather boring and just a rehash of the previous games. The last few missions were pretty solid but it was too little too late.

Some of the music was pretty good but overall, this wasn't Marty's best IMO.

Firefight mode is pretty good, I'll give it that. It's fun and intense.

MP is the same but your ranks don't seem to carry over, which is kind of weird. Of course the first game I played, I got stuck on Rat's Nest, which is the map I hate the most. Avalanche was really the only map I liked from the included map packs.

Overall, I'd give it a 7.5/10

Not at all...I am not even playing the MP as of yet and the game was still worth the 60 bones. I have already put about 25+ hours into this game and still enjoying the heck out of it. Firefight is off the hook, the solo and coop campaigns are extremely well done and wen add in the value of just the three map packs at $10 a piece as part of the package it is easy to see the deal you are getting.
