1up takes a jab at it (http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3158204)
Make of it what you will. I'm saying nothing. Too many idiots trying to read between the lines

NPD was proven inaccurate over the holiday season.

point is, even if they're accurate the Ps3 is still doing well in launch comparisons.

Seems like people forget that the 360 was very hard to find 6-months after launch in the U.S... While PS3's were & are easily available just about everywhere.
Talk about SPIN that article is.... The 360 was much more limited in available units/sales than the PS3 was/is, and there are no if's and's or but's about it... That's just a fact.

Have you read who the article is written by? Luke Smith is renowned for hating all things PS3. Why would he spin an article in their favour?
The article talks about sales, not shipped consoles. PS3 sold more and shipped more.

360 only ever dropped below 200K in its supply constrained months. PS3 already did that with no shortage. There is absolutely no comparison between the PS3 launch and the 360 launch. The 360 launched worldwide and people still had trouble finding them well into March. Microsoft obviously could have sold many more 360's if not for the shortages. In contrast demand for PS3 was so low for just a NA launch that Ebayers were selling PS3's at a loss by the beginning of December. Unless sales pick up to the 200k range then the PS3 won't be able to keep that type of SPIN forever, especially since 360 sales are growing compared to last year's with the PS3 on store shelves.
If the 360 supply was there for the demand, who knows… 360 sales could have doubled in the same time frame.
This is very dumb of 1-Up to compare when both launchs were not the same... Lets compare the same months while they were both out.

I'm only posting the article from 1up. I think it has some valid points. I'm not going to fall into another lengthy debate over which sold more when the launch numbers clearly indicate the PS3 sold more. That means nothing as the 360 was suffering shortages like you and that article said. However, that's not what the article is about. It talks of the sales figures from the two launches.

From a certain point of view... "You spin me right round "Baby" right round... Like a record player, right round, right round!":grinking:

I disagree. I think PS3 is more available in SOME locations because as the news I linked showed far more units made it to market faster than 360's.
