So my brother down in London picked up a PS3 without telling me he ever planned to get one. I spoke to him a couple times and mentioned I wanted to get one but he remained pip about his own wants.
Last night at 1AM I get a text message from him. The ****er got a PS3 with Formula 1 and Motorstorm and to add insult to injury.....he got a free HDtv :(

He's got the two things I desperately I want. On a side note, he broke his index finger so he can't play it
Got his hand stuck in the door.

I doubt they'd both fit under his shirt

Talk about karma though, he buys the PS3 to piss me off (although he did want one, I'm positive the deciding factor was getting my annoyed lol) and then gets a free tv. To balance the karma, he can't play it for a few weeks.

Hey, since he has one, do you think you could get him to use the Folding @ home client to fold for team # 44851 ? He can use whatever username he wants it would just help out Team Hack-a-Day a little. He can visit teamhackaday.com for our forums. At the very least, try to convice him to at least the F@H client to help humanity.

It the last PS3 update the client that the Pande Group at Stanford built specifally for PS3 was released. Folding @ home is a client that runs protein folding simulations for the Pande Group so they can determine how mis-folds of proteins cause disease.

Users get to have a little fun too by earning points for each protein fold they simulate by folding for themselves and a team.

The PS3 does have a large ammount of power and is currently beating all the other clients (windows mac etc) at folding. The more PS3's folding the better.

All I am asking is that you at least ask somebody you know has a PS3 to just run it for a little while, (There is a big kickoff for ps3 folding this Sunday night?) It benifits humanity and is fun to try to fold competitivly against others.

Oh gottcha, it's like Seti@home then.

I was not aware you could task a PS3 to perform functions like that. Cell Processing here we come.

If I recall correctly, Sony opened up their code to them to allow this and then distributed it through the update. However as I hear you can put linux on the console you should be able to do something nice things as well.

That was good of Sony as it also helps with PR.

He's already running it. Loves Formula 1 and Motorstorm takes some getting used to for the non-console players (what he is). It gets difficult pretty quick.
I still haven't received any images of hm and his new toys so I'm getting a little suspicious.

F1 and Motorstorm are definitely the games to get if you like racers (as I do).

Not loving Resistance all that much. Solid shooter, but when I see the Insomniac logo on the box, man I want Ratchet and Clank.

Jesus Isy - I hate your country even more man. I didnt realize the free TV thing was a planned event by Sony. Man I could use one of those babies they handed out. I am having TV issues.
