Only problem i've had with it is some minor sound issues. Although I have since gotten around them and have been enjoying my player ever since.
It's a great player and if you factor in the price of the King Kong HD-DVD included and the universal remote, it is by far the cheapest HD-DVD player out there and just a bit more expensive than a regular dvd player.
HD-DVD has some great features that you won't see anywhere else too, like google earth, info about all aspects of the movie, etc. You'll have to experience the features first hand to really know what i'm talking about though.

Final verdict, it's a nice accessory to have, but for some it just isn't logical.

I dont have an HDTV, I have a 27 inch SDTV. I heard on team xbox that LCD's are droping 40% this year so i might go out and get one sometime soon

thanks man. I'll try to be on here as much as I can but I got another group to tend to (LNG).

But back on topic, an HD-DVD player for me might be in the future somewhere. Right now I'm working on getting a desk and a computer for my room, then the HD-DVD is next on my list.

Yes, bluray is better imo too because its got more support from movie companies and it also has got better copyright protection than hd-dvd so movie companies will not want to go with hd dvd because some one has already ripped an hd dvd disc and its content is already been leaked to the internet.
Well, yah you can also buy a cheap bluray player (ps3).. its just too messy to have an external hddvd so its just more common sense to get a ps3 than just getting and hddvd addon..

I picked one up at Circuit City for $160.00 a couple weeks ago and it's been a great purchase so far! The picture quality is amazing and it's got me back into watching movies at home now. Hopefully HD-DVD comes out on top in this stupid format war.

I got one the day it came out. I've watched probably 10 HD-DVDs or so, I own two (M:I:III and King Kong) and I love it. King Kong is definitely the most impressive movie (HD quality-wise).

My gut tells me if you don't know, then it isn't. You would have know when you dropped $400 for a standalone or $200 for a 'add-on' to your 360.
