"There are differences, but they're on an extremely minor scale. Textures far off in the distance look a bit cleaner on PS3. Colors look a little less saturated. Load times are a bit shorter, especially when moving back and forth between adjacent areas. The changes aren't all improvements; I also noticed some polygon seaming in dungeons where none exists on 360, and a couple new audio bugs I'd not seen in my 200 hours or so on the 360 version. These are minor differences."
"Is the PS3 version of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion worth buying if you already own the 360 or PC version?
The answer is a pretty definite "no." With the Knights of the Nine expansion (included in this version) already available for both of the other platforms, there just isn't enough new or improved here to justify dropping another $60. And with the question of downloadable content on PS3 still unanswered, this version is, at least in some small ways, inferior."

Hmmm, from what he says, he calls it both "the same" and "inferior" multiple times.... Yet it gets a better score.:wtf:
Also, it got a .4 more and they should have had the same guy review this one that did the 360 one.

He also says textures look cleaner on the PS3 and more importantly LOAD TIMES ARE SHORTER.
Those items alone would justify a .4 better score.
The already great Oblivion expirence would be even better with faster load times.

I agree with Sirharper that the only way too better an already great game, is to make it quicker to play ;)
He only calls it inferior due to the alleged lack of DLC, something we can neither confirm nor deny. Add the fact that knights of the nine is available straight up when 360 users had to download it at extra costs and I think that warrants the higher score.

LOL, you look at only the positives... and do you know how much shorter those load times are? Also, don't you know that the 360 version is said to be getting the shader fix?
Now those negatives are looking that much worse.

With it being a year later? I don't think that it's improved that much for an OLD game to get a higher score.

Oblivion doesn't have all that great of graphics anyway. I'd kill for faster load times, that was the one thing that brought down the overall expirence. I was reminded of this even today as I pulled out Oblivion to situate my character in advance of the expansion.
Not to split hairs but your initial post intented to point out the PS3 negitives, it just backfired on you.

Funny, I never had a problem.

If it really does have faster load times that whole Blu Ray inferiority excuse some people tried to make went straight down the tubes.
Granted they needed to place redundant data on the disc but so what...they had room to do it with enough to spare to include Knights of the Nine.

You never had anything to compare it to either. Oblivion loads...A LOT. OXM even cited that in it's review when it came out.

Well, thats one opinion.
Well if you went by reviews the past 5 or so years...OLD remake games mostly never got higher scores even if it had extra content/Better Graphics/Faster load times = XBOX ports from PS2 games.

I'm not being sarcastic but mikewarrior are you a xbox fanboy, it just seems like you love to point out what PS3 has done or is doing wrong, then you try to compare the 360 with a system that is new, the 360 didn't have ground breaking games when it first came out either

Yes, but those loads are split-second loads between areas when you run... It's not that bad. It's a lot like Halo in how fast they are.

Because those ports were usually poorer.
And besides, when you look at what else is available on the PS3, this game is head and shoulders above most of them, IMO.

B.s. go look at Kameo & PDZ = They still have some of the best graphics around.
And yes, i'm a fan of the 360 this Gen.

I'll look at those games but wouldn't play them, they weren't good to me. Graphics aren't everything IMO

That's true to some... But the point was about graphics. The PS3 should have easily outdone them (PORTS) by now, but it hasn't.

They said the PS3 is harder to develop games for, so obviously they are going to be able to use the whole power of the system because they are unfamiliar with hardware

Yep...remember all the people asking when a game would finally use all three of 360's cores?
Which if they knew anything about symeterical multiprocessing the question was invalid in the first place.

ok the oblivion on 360 is 59.99 plus 10 bucks for Knights of the Nine...so for the PS3 version that runs a little cleaner and faster + plus the expansion for 59.99 seems like a bargain.. plus I'm not sure if the ps3 versionhas the other dlc that the Xbox 360 version has as well..

You failed because I hated it. The world was great, the game was beautiful - I just was not having fun with it.

LOL...opinions sure do vary. In my mind it beats GoW for Game of the Year.

In no way do I say Gears of War is any better. Sure it was fun for the first week or so but then it just was another game.
Now as for the other GoW - God of War. I would gladly give it game of the year. I love the franchise.
Personally 2006 was full of some great titles, but no title stands out that I have played where I would say it was the best of the best.

LOL...yeah people buy what they are told often times.
The last laugh will come will Oblivion tops it in sales because it's stuck on only one platform.
