Any ideas?? I say an expansion to the campaign mode. I wouldn't say it was a new game, otherwise why add the Halo 3 logo half way through the video?

it would be cool to be another person's view on the events of Halo 3.. but seriously Bungie.. do something else other than Halo

Update - looks like my suspicions were right. After watching it on bungie.net, I decided to find it on the marketplace aswell. A description of the content:
'High action and deep mystery await players in this new Halo 3 campaign experience. Prepare to drop!'
Very cool :D Can't wait!!

After watching it again, it looked like that explosion in New Mombasa from Halo 2. I don't know. I can't believe they waited months to show us that.

I'm sure they just wanted to do something for their anniversary.

Remember, they were stopped by Microsoft from revealing this at E3

Guess I need to pick this game back up.

Yes, and at that time it was said to 'now be slated for a more dedicated event.' Which is why I mentioned the anniversary, as a reason why you should 'believe they waited months to show us that.'

Prepare to drop... This sounds like the ODST (Orbital Drop Shock Troopers or Helljumpers) from the books and looks like what they've described. These guys go in an hit the ground running first and its suppose to be one hell of ride down to the surface. It was rumored that bungie was going to work on a FPS game for the ODST as well. Sounds like its been rolled into this now, wonder how much this will cost and how it will be packaged, expansion CD or download? Sure looks like an add-on for Halo 3, instead of a new game all together.

Cool! Since I can't access this vid at work, I will check it out at the home front. It will be a purchase for me if it is priced right for the content we get.

I'm done with Halo... I'm looking forward to better games.
{EDIT} The only way I would be excited is if they make a Halo in 1st/3rd person & allowed *Gears+Rainbow Six* cover tactics = Like I asked years ago at Xbox.com

One of the gaming sites has reported that this is suppose to be a GRAW2 meets Gears style of play and bloody!!!

If that is true... Color me EXCITED!:ele:
[EDIT] lol, I now have to wonder if they got that idea from me. :D

Looks very interesting almost like a Halo 3.5 to wet our appetite for the next installment. Should be good.

They just might have Mike... I hope it has co-op for squad based play and I hope its a long edition to the game. This could be a tester for a spin off as well and a larger ODST game down the road.

If its an add on to the story, it should be free. A 5 hour campaign was not worth $60. Why charge to add on a few more hours when a game like BioShock was around 15 hours if you simply just did story.

Something for free always sounds good to me... I'd like that for sure. :)

I disagree. If you play the campaign on Heroic it is at least a 10 to 12 hours experience and when you add in the metagame along with the 4 player coop you have a game that is well worth the money.
If a dev puts more work into an expansion for a title they should expect to be paid for it.

Yet you bought Star Wars: The Force Unleashed?
Does it have Co-Op & a big Online mode also, like Halo 3 does?

I got Force Unleashed for $40. I bought Halo 3 for $60.
I never played a single minute of Halo 3 online. I had better things to do than to hear grown men and little kids bicker with each other.
And the difficulty excuse is just that, an excuse. You can say the same thing about Gears of War - it was a 5 hour campaign on Normal though it takes you a bit longer on a harder difficulty. It doesn't lengthen the story, it just increases your death count and frustration level.

I just hope they leak some more info soon and let us know a bit more about the plans.

Playing on Normal vs. Heroic are two completely different experiences. You have more enemies, varied ranks of enemies and just an all around better experience for Halo vets. It has nothing to do with dying more and frustration level.
Halo 3 was a game chock full of content for $60. You definitely got your money's worth.

Agreed! Even taking out the campaign or online play, with things like Forge and the Theatre, the possibilities for thinking up something to do are quite extensive.

Not to sound like Mikewarrior here but I think I know when I get my money's worth. I don't play multiplayer, its not a necessity in games for me and I dont judge games by multiplayer simply because not everyone can do MP (I am referring to the five people who have dial up in the world still). Everyone can play single player, but not everyone can play multiplayer. It's just how I see games. I respect your opinion and all and am glad you felt your $60 was well spent. I made the mistake of jumping on the Halo bandwagon and not waiting for a good deal to get my money's worth (for instance GameStop and Target had promo offers to get the game for $40 new a few weeks after launch).
I am in it for the single player campaign and replay value. Halo 3 had replay value with alt. endings and like you stated different difficulties but the difficulty level didnt increase the story length, it just changed a few of the aspects of the current levels.
Personally I wanted Bungie to spend another two years on the game, to really vamp up that single player campaign to around 20 some hours on Normal. It's pure fantasy given that MS wants to milk this franchise til its nipples wear off but thats just me.
And its not just Halo. I fear Resistance 2 will follow the path of Halo 2. Halo 1 had a pretty extensive single player, not a grand mile but it was a story I played over and over again. Halo 2 was just a straight forward game that took me half the time to beat compared to Halo 1 and was more MP focused. Resistance was an online smash for the PS3 and my fear of Insomniac is that they will go into Resistance and be more MP focused since thats where the crowd is. Now given Insomniac's track record I will give them the benefit of the doubt considering I have enjoyed their games a great deal but it's just something that is happening to the FPS genre, not Halo in particular.
COD4 was a great game...it was just way too short for its own good. And like Halo 3 before it I never played a single minute of multiplayer. I just dont have the time to devote. Heck I havent been on Warhawk in months and I want to so bad because thats one game I really enjoyed online (probably because it felt like Crimson Skies so much).

Lame!
An add-on to a now-irrelevant game.
(before the fb's come to jump me know this...I feel the same about any GTA add-ons. Too little, too late)

Here's a prediction for you...
Both the GTA IV and Halo 3 DLC will be well received both in sales and reviews. The content may be irrelevant to you but for the fans of both series it will be a huge hit. I know I plan on DLing both and can't wait to play them.
I figure it this way...even if only 15% to 20% of the buyers of both games DL the content, you are looking at a massive amount of interest and sales.

Thats hardly a statement. Bungie or Rockstar devs could take a dump in a box, slap their logo on it, and it would sell to their unquestioning fans.
What I am really saying is that Oblivion did it right. They didn't wait for the game to die before hoping DLC would resurrect it. They managed a sustainability by not waiting for people to put the game down before making a release. As it stands now Halo and GTA will have to pry users away from the impending onslaught of big name IP's.

Don't forget...even the "Horse Armor" sold well.

I am merely saying that the quality of the work will be there for those interested and I think we both know that the interest will be there.
I too prefer to have DLC a bit closer to the initial launch of the game and more of it. Mass Effect has been a bit dissappointing since we only saw one extra mission and nothing since as one example. However, if a dev is trying something innovative from a DLC perspective I will let it slide a bit to see if what they produce if compelling. Considering the quality of material that Bungie and Rockstar have released in the past I am confident the new content will be great.
