I received an email from Playstation earlier that reserving your copy of SOCOM:CONFRONTATION entitles you to access the public beta test of the game. My Wife was near a Gamestop, I asked her to go in and check it out, and sure enough I ended up with a little TEAM ACCESS PUBLIC BETA pamphlet with a scratch off code on the back. The email also said you can invite up to two friends with this code. I went to the website provided, signed up and it said I would receive an email with "further instructions". My Blackberry has not gone off, so I don't know how long this will take.
It does say "Must be redeemed by 9/23/08" at the bottom.

I'm not too sure if I'm going to get this game or not.

I heard the standalone game is 30 or 40 and you can pay 60 I think to get it with a bluetooth headset (like warhawk).

I believe if you have one already, you should be good to go.

I picked up a Bluetooth headset tonight, it's pretty nice. Will come in handy when I do PS3 online gaming.

I got the email containing the beta code around an hour ago. Downloading now and won't get a chance to play until I get home from work in the morning. I'll give my impressions this weekend sometime.

I have 2 friend invites to send the code to. If anyone here at Unscripted 360 is interested, the first 2 members that have been here at least 2 months, and be the first 2 to pm me, I will pm you the code!

Both invites are gone.
A little heads up for those wanting or going to be partaking in the beta. Very and I mean very hard to get into! The servers are packed and connecting can be a nightmare.
I got home and started right up at 8, and have only got to play 3 rounds. It's a beta...expect that as well as a lot of jumpiness, and a lot of lag. Scenery and buildings really look pretty kick ass for being an early form. The talk is great! No open mics! You have to hold L2 down in order to talk. Probably won't be able to get on until later tonight or tomorrow due to work.

Well, it's a beta alright. Lag, framerate issues, long load times, etc. I've played a few rounds and in 2 of those, I completely lost sound. That was pretty odd. Graphics are better than I thought they would be. Textures are decent and the lighting is nicely done. The sound(whenever I can hear it) is great. Gameplay has been pretty unplayable for the most part due to lag, so I can't accurately comment on that at the moment.

They released an upgrade to the beta. Seems a little smoother, less jumpiness, but it still takes forever to get into a room and get the game started. They fixed the proximity chat as well, still not up to par, but at least a lot if credit has to be given for acting so fast on things.
