With THREE games being created off the Halo universe, Microsoft is taking a chapter out of Nintendo's playbook = That is exploiting the franchise no matter how good the games are.

Can't they create a new IP that can outdo Halo... Didn't a guy at Microsoft say they could?

difference is most of the exploited nintendo franchises are great - good.. unlike MS

I'm not really worried. If they start releasing a Halo FPS once a year or milk the franchise for 20+ years, then I may start worrying.

I love the Halo games, I like the Multi player aspects. I wasn't as happy with the endings on H2 & H3 if you call them endings really. But I'm cool with seeing what they want to do. If you ever go back an look at the timeline from well before Halo, they have a lot of options for game settings that are tied to the Halo universe. Rumors about a ODST game setting sound cool to me. I'd love to see them do something along the lines of that final battle memorial.

Yeah, MS is far from milking the Halo franchise. 3 games in 7+ years is a pretty good spread. Halo Wars in a different and compelling genre and who know what the PJ project is or what it will look like.

Having a game a year with the Halo tag would be pushing it unless the titles were truly compelling and innovative and push the gaming space forward. So far, from what I have seen and read, I think they are pushing the gaming industry forward with what they are putting out there.

But thats just it, Bungie really wouldn't have to do that with a Halo name if they don't want to, they could make an FPS about the Johvian Moons Campaign for example. Its one of the cool things they've done. They came up with a huge time line to explain how things got to where Halo: Combat Evolved began.

Especially if you've followed the Mechwarrior series. Assault was just a watered down piece of crap.
