Not sure how many of you have been paying attention to Bungie's site as of late. There have been weird messages and a countdown clock that was supposed to end at 7:07 am PST tomorrow. Now there is a message saying they won't be making an announcement because of their publisher.

I think we all know Bungie likes to mess with us, so I'm not entirely buying this as of yet. Some of the weird messages would say "Remain calm", "Expect delays" and "Keep it clean." So this is either true, not true or they were just completely messing around from the beginning.

Guess we'll find out tomorrow.

I'm sure it's just some hype nonsense.

That's not cool anyway. You can't play with people's mind's like that. If this is fake and they are still making the announcement then @#$& you Bungie!

It's fake, why would it come in email format to the public? I understand to the company it could be in email format, but it's posted on a website for the public.

Who puts ( Sent: ) on a press release. Also look at the time. 7:00. That's Bungie's number. Damn I hate their mind games.

It appears that it's true. There's speculation that MS cancelled Bungie's announcement to either protect GoW 2 or the FF 13 announcement. Pretty pathetic move on MS's part either way. It's kind of sad that a publisher can tell a developer when they can and can't announce a game.

the fanboy reaction to this is ridiculous really. they were literally in an uproar over this. can't understand it. it's just a friggin announcement but they reacted as if someone in their family had died.

Well Bungie did create a lot of hype for the announcement. So I can see why there would be an uproar with the die hard crowd. If I were a publisher, I wouldn't want to piss off my fans or one of my best developers. MS seems to have accomplished both with this.

an uproar sure. but to act like it was the end of the world uproar was a bit much.

Bad Pub is still Pub and gets you in the news. My guess is MS is tough enough to handle looking like a bad guy. But its interesting to watch an see what is going to happen. As far as take away from GoW2, I'm sorry if Bungie coming out is going to kill your game, then you might have bigger problems to worry about. Its not like Bungie would say this game is going to be on the shelves this November. Anything Bungie shows is going to be next year or later I would imagine. GoW2 better watch Fallout 3 fans, you just slid down my list of games to buy with what MS showed. I'm still interested, but was surprised by Fallout 3.

It's just annoying that obviously Bungie thought it was ready for E3 and Microsoft told them to STFU. I thought Bungie would have more freedom since they seperated from Microsoft, but apparently MS still holds the reins.

MS holds the reins on Halo publishing. i'm sure if it had nothing to do with Halo, Bungie could've said whatever they wanted.

but publishers can do what they feel is best for the property they publish. it happens. communication got lost somewhere i'm sure.

Its not like anyone that comes out on the Xbox 360 gets to be on stage and say something. They only have so much time to present so much.

I agree completely.

Well the announcement was supposed to be a part of MS's conference but they pulled it at the last minute. The best excuse they could come up with was they wanted to get the presentation under 90 minutes. I don't think an extra 5-10 minutes would have hurt but whatever.

I disagree with Mattrick. I think Xbox still needs Halo. Sony is starting to look mighty tempting and Xbox needs it's flagship series.

What would I know though, I'm just talking about how PS3's price drop made it awful enticing to me as a consumer.
