Quote:
The Wii was the top-selling console in February in terms of unit sales, followed by the PlayStation 2 - with consumers taken advantages of lower prices for the PS2 machine.
The Nintendo DS was third, ahead of the Xbox 360, the PSP, Nintendo's GameBoy Advance and the PlayStation 3.
"The 360 is doing very well," said Ryce. "They have some top titles in the market as well."
The 360 game Crackdown ranked second in February sales, behind only Nintendo's Wii Play. Lost Planet was No. 6 and Gears of War was No. 9 - both for the 360.

More proof about the things that I've stated before with the PS3 not selling very good at all.

They're very thorough in the search for gaming articles...well, good gaming articles. Try gamepress also, kickass stuff there.
Also, the lack of interest in PS3's in the UK had a turnaround with an increase of pre orders according to radio one. It was after a number of articles popped up debunking the rumours around the BC issues as well as other matters. I still think I'll be able to go in store and pick up a console on launch day.

lol...and PS2 has outsold 360 here. Of course certain people won't report that.

From CNN, think you'll ever see him cite a source with that much credibility?

that is amazing that the PS2 is still selling so strong... I'm actually quite surprise on the 360 front...i thought more would have sold than what was reported.

I am surprised about the PS2 sales as well considering how the PS3 plays nearly (notice I said nearly) all PS2, and all PS games.
My guess is God of War II. Even though its BC, some people who havent taken the step to next gen gaming want a PS2 just for that game considering the amount of media praise the original got.
What baffles me is Jack Thompson (you already know this DJ). The man is all over Rockstar for releasing games with nudity, violence, and other crap. God of War had un-modded nudity, a sex scene (out of picture), and is more violent than anything I know of - yet Thompson has yet to bring one single lawsuit upon Sony. Perhaps he is a pussy to test them in the legal battles.

Yeah, and what so dumb about Sony is that the PS2 will take away sales for their Blu-Ray pushing PS3... Competing against yourself isn't a smart thing. The PS2 is by far outselling the PS3.
There’s nothing really shocking about a $125 system outselling a $400 & $600 one. You guys should go work for Sony.

I would but they won't take me on
I doubt the folks at Sony are complaining with the PS2 beating the PS3, they make profits on the PS2 and lose out on the PS3, go figure.

The future of Blu-Ray is more important to them... Why do you think they are willing to lose so much money initially with the PS3?

Because that's how consoles work. No console ever released (with the exception of maybe the Wii) has ever made a profit within the first year of being released. I'm not even sure if any have made a profit within the first 2 years.

For the same reason MS was willing to lose over $1 billion so far on the Xbox and Xbox 360.
To gain access to the multi-billion dollar gaming industry and to intergrate products.

Sony already did that with the PsONE & PS2 without having to lost that much cash... Now what is the real reason they are now willing to do so?

This is why you calling me ignorant is such a comedy.
First look how you spelled that.
Second Japan is a nation NOT a race.

Not as much as it used to be. Corporate culture there has become significantly more American-like since the mid-80's.

No actually Sony turned a profit occasionally for a few quarters in the PS division, something MS has never done.

I know that but that isn't the point now is it... Why all of a sudden is Sony willing to lose so much more money on the PS3, then when they launched with the PsONE & PS2?

Yeah I can understand that...LOL, but the GBA (Dead handheld) selling better than the newley launched PS3?
It's like a game for the old Dreamcast outselling the best selling PS3 game in Japan NOW... Oh wait, that did happen.:lmao:

It also happened for the 360, Crackdown?
And lest we forget that the gba is very much a hot item.
