Looks o.k. - I may get it for the $39.99

I always had a soft spot for fighting against huge monsters.:)

Like Big said, too many heavy hitters are coming so I have to save my cash for them.

I actually picked this one up.. It might not win any awards for best game of the year.. but its an interesting change of pace. If you like the old school B&W B rated monster movies (Them, Godzilla, Tarantula).. then this game will feel like an old friend. But dont look for quick acheivments, currently on level 28 and have no idea when it will end (Most of the acheivments are unlocked after beating the game on the various difficulty levels).

Unfortunately most of the Gamestop/EB's didn't order to many copies.. so trying to find one might prove difficult. All the local shops here are all sold out.

I assumed it would be full-priced here in the UK but for £20, I'm sold. Its a really low budget game that sucks you in.

it doesn't look half bad ya know.

I was interested in renting it until I found out it was Local co-op only...that and the most unoriginal achievements ever and I'll be staying away also.....:2cents:

local co-op is fine with me. i wish Crackdown had it.

The split screen co-op is what tipped me over to buying it. Crackdown would have been great if it had that feature.

DeaconBlade
03-27-2007, 01:49 PM
well i'm pretty interested in this title...i don't know why but it seems like it'll be some crazy fun that no one will buy unfortunately.

the only real issue with the game (forgiving the graphics) outside of the no LIVE play.. is some of the missions get really repetitive.. but the missions are short so if you feel like a quick game (almost XBLA quick) you can finish a few levels in a half hours time.

the one real tip I can try to give is, pick up every weapon or armor drop you can.. since this is how you earn your new equipment (unfortunately its a random drop). But at least the armor is stackable.. for example, if you start with 200 Pt's in armor and find 10, your next mission will start with 210.. and some of those later missions you'll find out the hard way that you needed it.

also you can play multiple difficulties at any time.. so you can play 1 mission on normal, beat it, then do it again on hard or inferno. The weapons that are dropped get stronger with the higher difficulties... and they will carry over to other missions as well. Wouldnt hurt to to replay old missions as well just to snag some new equipment.

53 levels and then you start on thew next setting my friend has it hes only level 44 and I can't see playing it through that many times

I'll probrobly still play though it.. just wont be at one sit down like most other games. If I space things out say an hour 1/2 a day.. it might not be so bad.. it will still take forever but not suffer a case of burnout.

53 levels? god do I have a long way to go.. I at least want to unlock one acheivment..

I'm picking this up.
There's a lot reviews out there giving it an indifferent score but most of the people playing it are saying it's a decent (if mindless) blast. And in my book, old school mindless blasting is what gaming is all about when you're in the mood for it, yes indeedy!

Got the game today and IMO it's excellent. Very playable and not a little old school.
People are exaggerating the low quality of the graphics too, there's nothing wrong with them. In fact, there are some superb graphical setpieces on offer here.

I played the game for a few hours and got as far as level 23 on Normal and so far I've enjoyed it all the way. I'm going to give the game a good caning tomorrow.

It was £24.99 in the uk btw, not £20. That was from Gamestation though, it's probably cheaper at Tesco etc.
Still a bargain if you ask me.

Its cheaper online Karma and Tesco's has the same price. I went in to gamestation today and the bastards said The godfather ain't out on the Wii......Its been out for a week :(
Ordered both this game and the godfather today online then.

Cool. :)

If you're getting it for 20 notes the game is an absolute bargain for sure.

Glad to see you were able to locate copies Isy, Karma.. I'm still hunting down a copy for a friend of mine (but no real rush).. ether that or he is using my findings to guage the potential rarity of the game..

I actually need to take a break from this game now.. just finished the "Easy" mode.. and little more than halfway though "Normal" along with a few "Hard" and "Harder" missions.. about 40% finished and 93 weapons found.. I'm starting to show a few signs of burnout, So I guess its off to Bullet Witch again.. as long as her thong doesn't keep distracting me, I should be all set.

This game really comes good when you start playing through Hard mode after getting hold of some of the more impressive weaponry.

I'd like to mention that this game gives me the creeping heebs a lot more than games like Silent Hill ever did.

It's those big spiders. Don't play this game if you're scared of spiders.

Well, I caved. The game finally arrived after a couple delays. Have yet to try it but I know I'll like it. One strange thing though, theres no mention of Live anywhere on the case. It's weird because its the first game that doesn't have Live plastered all over it.

Raithgar
04-05-2007, 10:05 AM
Yep.. no connectivity to LIVE at all.. Don't recall off hand but I believe there are no leader boards as well.

I'll post the fav weapons I tend to use in a bit.. but normally I tend to stay with the Rockets and Machine Guns that have the most range (the rockets are the ones that send multiple warheads at once).. stayed away from the special weapons and sniper rifles.. to slow on reload times. anything more than a 1.5 sec reload proved hazardous to my health.

Oh god this game is so addictive. I'm totally loving the huge amount of carnage going on. The unlockables are ridiculous too, new weapons unlocoked after every mission.

I'm on mission 5 now I think and only 1.9% complete. Couple of instances where the game slowed down a fair bit but there was just so much going on I don't blame it.

LOL now only if they designed a game like this, but instead of giant bugs and robots.. we have tons and tons of zombies. Then my life would be complete

How are the achievements ? Shooters always interest me, I will be picking up games like Civil War and COD3 when the price is right. I watched the video and if I am not mistaken I saw this for sale at BB. I usually juggle two games for fun and one for achievements. Currently its R6, Tiger, and Castlavania and no games for achievements.

Nice post, I thought the game looked good enough for a buy...

Raithgar

Unfortunately the achievements are a pain to get.. most of them are entirely based on finishing the game on each of the difficulty's (5 different ones).. only problem is there are @ 52 levels to go though.. so it may take a bit of time to get even half of the achievements..

Thus far I've only finished the "Easy" mode.. and about half way though normal, and some side Hard missions finished. But if your looking for a game solely for the fun.. this might be just what your looking for.

Forgotten to mention.. you will have to play each difficulty.. unlike other games where you beat it on hard or normal and automatically get the lower achievement as well.

You have to beat the game on all difficulties if you want the weapon achievement.
The bonus weapons you get for completing the game are included in the achievement, and that includes getting the Genocide Gun for beating the game on Inferno.
