Sony Computer Entertainment president Kaz Hirai (pictured left) said that the company is aiming to compete in a wider entertainment space than just console gaming, MCV reports.
Speaking at the PlayStation Day event earlier this week, the president stressed that that Sony's consoles are in a league beyond Microsoft's Xbox 360 and Nintendo's Wii console.

"I think that PS3, PS2 and PSP are all entertainment platforms so I feel that our competition is not Microsoft or Nintendo, but basically any form of entertainment that is competing for the consumers' attention," Hirai said.

"So we need to make sure we offer the most compelling entertainment—not video game entertainment but in entertainment in general," he added. "I can't speak for [Nintendo and Microsoft's] strategy but I like to think that we've got a very well balanced portfolio with PS3, PSP and you can't discount the PS2."

Despite not being in competition with Microsoft, Sony proudly declared that the PlayStation 3 has sold more than the Xbox 360 in Europe earlier this week, though the Wii remains the best-selling hardware worldwide.

More Sony double speak... On one hand they say "We were too ambitious with the non-gaming applications of Home" & now they say "So we need to make sure we offer the most compelling entertainment—not video game entertainment but in entertainment in general," he added." = LMAO you are a joke to me Sony... Thanks for the non-gaming entertainment, or is it gaming?:lmao:
