Good race at Martinsville today....congrats to Denny Hamlin! Any other race fans out there???

I don't think I've ever seen so many dented up race cars before. I hate this new car but I'll give it one thing, it's tough. There were drivers that were competitive with the front, back, and sides of their cars knocked in. Pretty good race overall.

part of that is just Martinsville; the guys love to bump/grind on the short tracks.
seemed to be more tranny faillures than I remember in past.
Glad to see my boys' change to Toyota has hampered their way to the front! :)

Btw...nice paint scheme sketches! I used to do that too, with my 2004 Nascar PC game....but never had enough time to get a finished scheme going let alone, get it online. Not sure where I packed away my pedals/wheel either! Will have to dig that all out again, when I get my rec-room set up!

Yeah, it was typical Martinsville racing. I was surprised at how many guys caved the front end in and didn't break the radiator. There were definitely a lot more rear-end gear and transmission failures today for some reason. I take it you're a Gibbs fan? I don't mind Hamlin but I've never been a fan of Stewart. Busch is another story. I dislike him more and more each week.

Thanks for the comment on the paint scheme. Here are a few of the ones I dug up from my profile at nnracing.com.

I'm a Stewart fan (as if one couldn't tell by my tank!). I originally hail from Indiana, so gotta support my hometown boy. (and for that reason am partial to Ryan Newman too).

I'll root for the others only since part of the team; although DH is a pretty grounded individual so far (and his FedEx commericals crack me up!).

I have never been a fan of either Bush brother; I do think Kyle is the better driver of the two (although a tad too aggressive at times).

Dale Jr. is doing better but still needs to win a points race sometime this year.

I'll think he'll get a couple of wins this year. His first will probably come at Talladega in a few weeks.

:iagree:
RPR's have always been his thing....it'll be interesting if he can do it with new team/car etc.

10 days and counting to PIR. :woot:

Wow, Michael McDowell just had a wicked wreck in qualifying. I'm glad he walked away from that.

haven't seen the video yet, but it looks like a doosey. My heart is always in my throat when these nasty wrecks happen. Lots of drivers have been through them; Tony's, Bobby Labonte's, Ryan Newman's, and Elliot Sadler's are a few that come to mind. But at that point it doesn't matter who your "favorite" is, you just want to see that fella get out of what's left of the roll cage on his own. Thank God for all the safety devices that are now mandatory (although I think they came a little late, or we still might have Dale Sr. with us).
I think it does say a lot for the SAFER barrier, or else, he might not have walked away today.

Here's video of it. The safer barrier took a lot of that impact, so much that it destroyed the foam and bent the steel wall in about a foot. I'm sure the COT played a role in his ability to walk away as well. The front and back ends were gone but the drivers area was in fairly good shape.

Carl Edwards is riding a hot car right now, but wait for the plummet at around midseason...

yeah, he's kinda a hot/cold guy, but usually makes a respectable attempt, especially at the short tracks.

Does anyone have experience with Nascar.com's "TrackPass"??
I've had DirecTV's "HotPass" before, which was kinda neat.
Just wondering if anyone's used both and which they thought was better?

Well look at who it is............lol

I can't believe that I have missed this thread :shrugs: Anyhow I have not been able to watch a full race after Daytona, but I am of course rooting for my man JG and the other Hendrick boys.

PIR looks to be a good race this weekend, should be interesting.

Howdy yourself, Scare! :) *hugs*

You know I still support Dale Jr and think he'll actually be able to make a mark or two this year! It KILLS me that he's on "Jeffinkins" and "Jimmiekins" team, but I think the move was good for both him and Rick.

Then again, we obtained Kyle Busch, and you know I've never liked him either, but now he's a teammate, so whattya do? :dunno:

Its supposed to be HOT Saturday (like in the 90's already), but once the sun goes down it will cool off fast, so I'll be taking my jacket too!
Too bad I don't have a nice TS Twill yet!

My invite to go to Pocono still stand? I won't have much vacation time this year, but should be able to wrangle a week-end turnaround type of thing.

RCR is the team I pull for now that Ricky Rudd is retired. Hopefully Bobby Labonte will leave Petty and drive the 4th RCR car next year.

It always stands, just depends on what is going on with the up and coming deployment. stay tuned.

THx, but GOOD NEWS! You're off the hook! :)

Didn't have much luck selling my tickets, but did find someone (at last minute)
to go! So, I'll get to go root him home in person myself! Should be a good time!
I'm sitting in turn 1!!

no, no, no, NO!

Not happy with that ending AT ALL!
Thought Jr. might have had it, then Denny might have gotten up there, but then everyone had to come in for gas with such the long green run.

That stinkin' Johnson is luckier than....

*sigh*

On to next week...............

I was hoping Johnson would run out of fuel. I can't stand that guy.
