am i the only one who doesn't think this is anything to get excited about? for as long as it's been in development, this is the best they can make it look?

i'm sure gameplay is another beast...but man...it doesn't look the part of a next-gen GTA game to me. textures, character models...all meh.

No, you're not the only one. When I saw this trailer, my first impression was "meh." I've never really been a fan of the GTA series. So maybe that has something to do with it.

lol, poor reply about a game series that is known to not have the highest of quality in gameplay. The main reason the GTA series got such recognition/praise, was for it's senseless violence, not gameplay.

I agree Deac... The game looks like trash = I would rather wait on Saints Row 2 if I wanted a better sandbox type of game. Hopefully that will be a lot better than GTA4 is looking to be.

yeah i just think they could've done more visually but like you alluded to...GTA is all about the violence really and not looking the part i guess. i'd even go so far as to say the story is the best part about it. gameplay wise it's no different than a Saint's Row etc.

but i'm sure R* knows the hordes of GTA fans will eat it up regardless and big media will dish out 9's and 10's etc. despite what i believe are shortcomings already.

That's why the media's opinion is shit. Of course they will give 9s and 10s for hyped games, because anything lower will cause controversy and outcry from fanboys and idiots.

Halo 3...not a 9 in my book, far from it. 98% of the media doesn't agree with me.

well chalk me up as not part of that 98% who doesn't agree lol. because i agree with you. much like few agree with me that BioShock was FAR from a 10. but like you said, media opinions are shit.

Halo 3 really didn't deserve anything over a 9 in my opinion. Personally, I'd give it an 8.5. It was fun and the SP was better than Halo 2's. MP is fun but the whole matchmaking system annoys the heck out of me. I popped the game back in the other day to try out the free maps and got stuck playing Rat's Nest 3 or 4 rounds in a row. That's one of the reasons why I stopped playing Halo 3's MP in the first place because you can get stuck playing some crappy map over and over again.

I love GTA just because there is SO much you can do. You can run around and do vigilante missions if you are bored. And now they have 16-player online play!
