View Full Version : Crackdown- I need to vent some steam

I hate gameplay.com. They screwed me over. I ordered the game a day after E3 was officially over and I get an email today saying my bank is not allowing them to complete the transaction. That's fair enough you might think. However, the gig goes deeper than that....
Upon contacting the credit card issuer via telephone I was told I had upwards of £200! Thats more than enough to buy four copies of the game and I'm told I can't even get the one. So, naturally I rang up gameplay.com (cost me a fair bit too) and was told that the order has already been cancelled and I'd have to re-order the title if I wanted it. Again, not too bad but......
I'd have to wait! Their stock has completely run dry and I'd have to wait until all theorders are met before receiving my copy. So now I'd have to go to the back of the queue, even though I ordered months ago!
I'm sorry guys, I just really wanted to let off some steam. I know its nothing to do with the game itself but right now, with the way I'm feeling, I really dn't want it anymore. Considering I was probably the most excited about this (read the comments on the main page I left) than anyone else, that really is a big statement.
Again, apologies for wasting your time.

I know, how could they cancel my order and then tell me about it?! Surely they'd email me beforehand so I could change the payment method. Twats.

You should make sure they didn't already charge you for it

Thank really sucks!! I am sorry that happened to you isy.
That is some poor customer service, they could have atleast given you a chance to figure out what the heck was going on or as you stated change the payment method... what jerkos...

Well, I paid the nearest 24 hour supermarket a visit last night in the hope of picking up the game, alas my efforts were in vain. They refused to sell me the title before Friday, so I'm waiting another day before I get my grubby hands on it.

Oh crap! I completely forgot to update you guys.
Well, I got the game the next day and lived happily ever after.
Oh and the Live Co-op is laggy as hell for me. I only ever tried it out a couple times with the same guy but it was just too much for me.
And driving up buildings is more fun than it sounds :D

That sucks dude, you're a pretty nice guy and I hate seeing bad things happen to good people.

Ah thanks man. It all worked out in the end so all was not lost!
I gotta say all that trouble was worth it in the end. The game turned out to be completely stellar, blowing away all the high expectations I had for it.

I was already confident the game would blow my socks off way back when they first showed it at X05. You guys nagging away only added more fuel to the inferno. :)

Next time, stick with the store to buy games.

Nah, online is still best for prices and delivery time, usually end up getting the game a day or two before the street date. I'll just use a different website in the near future.

Ok, it's your choice. I'd rather use the store for Credit Card info. I can wait the extra day to play to prevent identity theft.

I see what you're saying but so long as you use trusted sites that'll never become an issue. Besides, I never use credit cards in-store, strictly online only

i never had more fun completing achievements than I do in Crackdown.. I just wish the map marked down the agility orbs...

Yeah that is a bugger. Even it told you how many orbs were in each district it would be great but alas, we're forced to make do.
Anyone notice the billboards change? It may be a regional thing as 300 (movie) is already out in the US, but the billboards in my game have 300 plastered all over them. Looks good :D

Its not too bad, it actually fits in nicely. It's when they advertise junk like soft drinks and deodorants (AXE in Burnout?!)

good write-up but I think the score was too high. 8.5 at the very highest would be deserved.
I also found the game incredibly short with very little to do. Theres also no way to restart the game completely unless you delete you save file or use a different profile. Thats something that's proving a big annoyance on 360 games. Although I've only experienced it in Dead Rising and Crackdown.

Rumours regarding Crackdowns DLC that may be coming pretty soon.
The poster goes the content "is possibly going to be free" and will include "things like vehicle impounding (taking marked cars back to agency); street racing vs. AI controlled cars, extra equipment, new agent outfits and a number of new mini games."
"The observant amongst you may have noticed some different activities in the game's training videos which look like rampage missions with weapons and vehicles. If all of this stuff becomes available soon and is free of charge then there is certainly a lot of life left in the game for those who have already beaten it", the poster concludes.
Excited fan wish or actually concrete information? We'll contact Microsoft to see what it says (and if it's anything other than "We do not comment on rumour and speculation", we'll eat our pyjamas).
good stuff if it comes through.
