'Estimated' Console Black Friday Sales

Black Friday looks like it was huge not only for Nintendo who sold close to 350,000 units but also for MS who came in a very close second last week with 310,000. Sony has yet to post their numbers but indications are that they lagged significantly behind the current leaders of this console generation. Apparently the 360 Arcade is doing much better than expected and is helping MS compete directly with the Wii's current $250 price point.

Interesting stuff and early indicators of how this holiday season will flesh out.

I would be curious to see the NPD numbers. When you get that info, please post! I just want to know if Sony is staying quiet because they sold less than 360 and Wii or if they sold a lot more than the estimate.

It will be interesting to see. They stated they increased sales by something like 178% compared to the previous week which is what MS probably used to get their 2 to 1 statement. Needless to say if these numbers hold even a bit of truth the consoles are going to sell like mad this holiday even more so than last year.

NPD will be interesting indeed.

I'm with you there. I would be happy if the console race this gen ended in a 3 way tie. I do think it is a good thing for Sony to taste a but of humble pie this gen. They were getting cocky and thought they were the best thing ever for gaming. I think this coupled with the tight race will lead to better and more innovative games in the end.
