I finally sat down tonight and played a good dosage of Heavenly Sword. Had a copy for the past 2 weeks but played little to none of it due to time constraints (plus I am getting my Wii Sports addiction back).

Here is some impressions from where I am at so far:
+ Cinematics are Hollywood style
+ Voice acting is superb, if not some of the best in gaming
+ Gameplay is not just a God of War ripoff, there are a lot of combos, and there are multiple ways to use Nariko's weaponry
+ Good use of Sixaxis - not really gimmicky and not too tough to get the hang of (unlike Lair, which had good use of Sixaxis, it just had a steep learning curve)
+ No Heavenly Sword Collector's Edition, you unlock all the bonus content you would have gotten. Saves $10, and uses BR for what its meant for.
- 2 of the big bonus content features (Making of and Anime) were on PSN store for weeks
- Mission checkpoints are pretty short, missions have 6-7 checkpoints each, and they range from like 5 minutes to 20 minutes, not really that long.
- Camera is not bad, but when trying to pick up and launch things at enemies not on screen, it can be a little irritating
? Heavenly Sword started off with almost an exact type beginning that God of War 1 had, heh.

I played the demo at Gamestop and it was fun, I don't know how much replay value it has though

Zero, that's how much.

Most games have zero replay value anyway. Rent them, give them back. Buy a select very few and keep them.

Its basically like Ninja Gaiden and God of War's replay value - once you beat it you get a new difficulty mode and you play through that.

I got the game for $40, so no complaints here considering I paid more than that for PS2/Xbox games.

The replay value for Heavenly Sword and Ninja Gaiden are not the same. Myself and others in the NG community have been playing NG/black religiously since the day they were released. I highly doubt anyone will be playing HS like that for so long. There is no reason to.

i guess it's blasphemous to compare Heavenly Sword to Ninja Gaiden.. I couldn't play through NG again after beating it...

Heavenly Sword has some of the best facial expressions in a game that I have seen. It is truly quite impressive in my eyes. It is also like playing through an action movie. Good voice acting too. The only negatives I can think of with this game is that it is too short and the replayability isn't that great. You can unlock hell mode, but the other unlockables aren't that interesting. I would have to agree with whoever said this was a rental.

Wow, I really wanted this game, but a few reviews I heard about shot it to the ground. I like reviews from normal people though since it's not so professional and I can relate to most of what they are saying. Sounds like an awesome game (I never replay though games, so RV has no effect on me) so looks like I'm picking this up sometime.
