Auto racing and golf to me arent even sports. It dosent take athelitic ability to do any of that stuff. Thats one of the reasons I dont watch them.

LOL! Both are very much sports.

Driving a race car is harder work than you think then. Especially these 24 hour races.

If you want to delabel something a sport look at X-games.

so your telling us that you can be as out of shape as you want and drive a race car in well over 100 degree heat for several hours. not to mention the mental aspect of driving at high rates of speed with several other cars inches from you. Also the reason people dont call racing a sport is because they are uneducated about it.

I agree with everything you said but you need to watch calling people uneducated or ignorant simply because their opinion does not agree with yours. That itself show lack of understanding.

If the guy doesn't feel racing is a sport thats his opinion. There are those that think Poker is a sport. Opinions vary.

If you would read carefully I did not call anyone uneducated or ignorant. i simply stated that they may be uneducated about the sport which is completley different.

Although I appreciate your opinion, I do not appreciate you trying to correct me when you did not fully read my post so please don't put words in my mouth or re-arrange what I have said to fit you as I would never call someone ignorant or uneducated.

You're not going to politic your way out of that. Semantics will not avail you.

You called a class of individuals that choose not to label racing as a sport as being uneducated on the topic.

Higgy76 is a member of the class you labeled uneducated. Therefore you label him as uneducated.

I can say this was your intent with certainty because you now have a pattern of demeaning those who disagree with your views on racing. In a previous thread you said of me: "u have no earthly idea what nascar is about". In a short you also are saying I am uneducated because I do not share your view, therefore I do not know what I am talking about.

There are no two ways of viewing your comments.

Yes there are two ways of viewing it and before you start to try and correct me on name calling as I recall you called the Nascar Nation Rednecks.

And here is what you said "Watching rednecks drive around in circles is not my idea of good racing."

And the sterotype there is that rednecks are uneducated, backwards people... So therefore you basically called me the samething, a Redneck who is uneducated.

So before you start to get up on your high horse, you need to practice what you preach

Also I didn't call him or you uneducated, I said uneducated about the sport and yes there is a big difference there

And no I don't demean others who opinion varies from mine. Everyone has an opnion and is entitled to it and I welcome everyones opinion but do not tell me about name calling when you yorurself are guilty of doing it.

And you can stop re-arranging what I have stated to fit you.

And stop trying to start an arguement.

Not taking sides but here is my two cents. Let's use Olympic style classifications. The Olympics label all events as sports. There are two classes of events. Athletics and Non-athletics which are sometimes unofficially called activity events. Athletics are events like track and field, volleyball, swimming, hockey, etc. Non-athletics are events like shooting, sailing, equestrian and even bobsled. So if racing were an Olympic event it would be a sport but a non-athletic. You can all now debate if racers are athletes but there is no question racing is a sport.

I would have to say racing is a sport. The drivers have train just like every other person doing a sport. They have to keep thier bodys in shape to handel the heat and keep thier minds clear.
