i just checked this news out. (http://www.2kgames.com/cultofrapture/qa1.htm) (thx Thrills)

Will there be multiplayer or online gaming in BioShock?
There will be no multiplayer (hold on before you complain!!!!) but for a very specific reason. BioShock features a compelling storyline that revolves around the experiences of one man as he enters the decaying world of Rapture. Having a multiplayer component would have compromised the story we were trying to tell so we made the decision to keep this game as a single player experience. There will be an online component, however, where new content can be downloaded.

i'm happy about it personally as i'm a single campaign kind of guy. but does this throw off you MP supporters?

no I don't think it would throw me off of it but I hope that story line is really good and intense.

I never expected them to have any MP in the game & I'm happy about it too. This way they can make a lot of cool single player achievements and focus on the single player gameplay instead of some MP that I would only play a few days most likely. An awesome single player game, like Condemned, is my favorite kind of game.

With all the poorly designed online afterthoughts like Saints Row for example...who wants another bland shooter anyway?

Thats good. It just means their 100% focused on making a great single player game.

and you can never argue with that Darth. i hope it's as thrilling as the trailer makes it.

I wasn't expecting this game to be a multiplayer game anyway. I'm still not completely sold on this game and if it's singleplayer only it'll definitely be one to Gamefly. Looks like an interesting game though.

As I said before, I never expected "Bioshock" to have a multiplayer. Matter of fact, I think it would take away from the tone of the game. This game has a lot of potential and I don't think any of us want to see it turn into a generic fps deathmatch.

Its not a bad thing that its not multiplayer. It would take the devs more time to add that when they could be working on the single player

As long as the game is over 10 hours gameplay, thats fine with me.

I'm looking forward to seeing how this game will turn out. It certainly looks promising, and for what they are doing in the single player I wouldn't put multiplayer in it either. The style kind of reminds me a bit of Deus Ex: Invisible War. FPSRPG.

Well I just think Bioshock did not need mp. It is a great gaem on sp alone.

Not every game needs multiplayer. I really enjoy single player games with a good story (and good gameplay of course).

The game was stellar without MP. This one definitely did not need MP.

Certain games don't "need" MP but would be far better if they did. Take Oblivion for example, how awesome would it be if you could run co-op with 1-2 friends? It would completely add to the game. How much better yet if it had been an MMO?

Saw this article thought you might want to check out Harper...it doesnt give any kind of concrete facts on a specific game but its the Developers of Oblivion making a MMO....Link (http://spong.com/article/14190/Bethesda_On_Forthcoming_Elder_Scrolls_MMO/?d=200711051320&cb=974)

Agreed. You do have to ask yourself though if you could have the choice of Oblivion in all of its single player greatest or have the dev team possibly split into two teams with one working MMO and the other SP how would that impact the game. You would either have a delay or two products not as good as one focused game.

BTW, word on the street is that an Oblivion MMO is in development right now according to a copyright recently filed by Bethesda. ;)

Oh hell....

If that happens I might have to re-dedicate myself to becoming the best Oblivion player in the world.
