It’s been a pretty amazing event here at EA Studios hanging out with the folks from DICE.  It hasn’t been all play so I’m bringing you some hot and exclusive news about how you can get your grubby little hands on the five unlockable weapons in Battlefield: Bad Company.  I’m sure we all cheered a bit after DICE decided not to charge but now let’s prepare for a little leg (or finger) work.  The programs that have been hinted at recently are going to be available via www.findallfive.com.  This is ground zero and how you can start obtaining these weapons before the game’s June release.

Find All Five Bad Company

The first weapon up for grabs is from the Recon arsenal.  It’s a cool high-powered Sniper Rifle.  I just so happen to have a code for this weapon that I might just giveaway when the game releases.  Until then, just head on over to www.findallfive.com and pre-order to get the first of these 5 unlockable weapons.  All of the other weapons will soon be available to unlock in the ways I’ve listed below.  Stay tuned to U360 for when each opportunity will launch.  (yes I’ll be the first to let you know when that is)  Check out the programs and videos for each weapon below!

Five unique ways to unlock five new weapons in Battlefield: Bad Company

Ready for another search & rescue hunt?  U360 is part of a community wide scavenger hunt called Unlock The Achievement that’s set to benefit both gamers and charity alike.   All you have to do is find the most “Achievements” hidden across all of the partner sites.  There are 5 hidden within each partner site.  Be sure to register at Unlock The Achievement so your progress can be tracked.

Good luck and godspeed to all of you happy little hunters from U360.  I’ll be rooting for ya!  (and no I can’t tell you where the hidden Achievements for U360 will be)  But you know me…I’ll give some hints if I can.  I realize it may be a heavy task to pillage so many sites.  Anyway, read below for more details on the event.

Remember a few months ago…back in the day when I brought you news of a new football game making its way around the circuit called Backbreaker?  It’s the game that uses the euphoria engine (also found in the upcoming Grand Theft Auto IV and Star Wars: Force Unleashed games).  Well IGN posted a new developer diary featuring an in-game tackle mini-game showcasing gameplay.  It’s called Tackle Alley and to be honest I’m impressed with the early development work.

“All the tackles are different and generated on-the-fly, so you never know what’s going to happen. But whatever does happen – you know it’s unique to you. No-one else will have seen the same 100-yard run before!” - Backbreaker Devs

It’s still a work in progress but it just might take something like this to bring a little life back into the football genre.  It’s over the top really yet done not sloppy.  The sound in it is already awesome and I can tell that the animations are going in the right direction.

SEGA has opened the bag on all of the new and classic suits playable in their upcoming video game, Iron Man.  The movie is looking hot and after seeing these suits, the game just jumped up a notch on my “watch list”.  Over the course of his epic career, brilliant scientist Tony Stark has created a variety of suits for his alter-ego Iron Man, several of which are available in the game due out on all platforms on May 2, 2008.

You have the MARK I, MARK II, and MARK III available at start and you can unlock the Classic, Extremis, Hulkbuster (yes the one he made to battle The Incredible Hulk) and the Classic Mark I.

There’s a platform specific suit available to unlock for both the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions.  The Xbox 360 gets the Silver Centurion!  Check it out below and see how sexy it looks.  Take a look at all the playable suits here.

Iron Man, Silver Centurion

Originally used as a means by which Tony Stark could test out new ideas for the Iron Man suit, it eventually became his new fully operational set of armor when used in the first comic book battle between Tony Stark and Obadiah Stane in Iron Man issue 200. Boldly sporting new colors, this version of the suit was worn during Stark’s days as a West Coast Avenger and during the first “Armor Wars” storyline.

If these suits look this good in the game, then I’m ready to pump some iron!

I’ve heard and read some strange stories coming out of Microsoft before but this one is a real doozie.  According to sources at MTV News, Microsoft has been developing its own answer to the Wiimote for the Xbox 360.  No it’s not called the Xmote or Xboxmote but it’s supposedly going to offer all the functions of Nintendo’s nifty controller plus more.  What that “more” is, is anyone’s guess at this point.  I don’t know what it’s called or will be called if true, but I’m not sure why they would even bother.

Wiimote

The controller itself isn’t much different in functionality or design from Nintendo’s Wii remote, but comes with four face buttons, an analog stick and microphone. There are also plans for the controller to interact with the Xbox Live Vision Camera, the source said.  There’s also talk about introducting Mii-like avatars to the Xbox 360 that offer a bit more than Nintendo’s Mii avatar system.

When MTV News contacted Microsoft for confirmation, a spokesperson said that “Microsoft does not comment on rumors and speculation.”  And you all should know how to properly identify that bit of PR Speak after reading the latest Truth Serum article.

PR Speak - “We have a policy in place not to comment on rumor or speculation.”
Truth Serum - “We’ll tell you when we’re ready to tell you but what you heard is probably right.”

Aren’t you glad you have a PR Speak Guide now?  (smile)  So, what say you to this whole idea of a new Xboxmote and the possibilities of Mii-like creations?

Jason Bourne is your name and kicking a lot of ass will be your game on June 3, 2008 when The Bourne Conpsiracy releases.  I’ve loved each of the three Bourne movies and I’m hoping for good things with the game.

“Wrought with action, combat, elaborate escape scenes and untold story, the Bourne series is making a natural progression into the interactive medium,” said Al Simone, senior vice president, global marketing, Sierra Entertainment. “We’re pleased to announce that this June gamers will have the chance to experience the dangerously exciting aura and frenetic pace inherent in the Bourne franchise.”

I was never much of a fan of fantasy/strategy RPGs but I think I’m quickly having a change of heart after playing Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey and taking a look at the next one in line for the Xbox 360.  Atlus is gearing up for the release of Spectral Force 3 this May and it looks like something interesting.  I know what you’re thinking.  What exactly was Spectral 1 and 2 about?  I don’t know but let’s just hope this one doesn’t end up being 4 disks.

Neverland…a world where gods resides in Heaven, the dead in the Underworld and humans, demons and various other races struggle for dominance amongst each other on the earth.  There are 40 unique soldiers to enlist and over 150 missions to choose from.  Are you ready to shape the face of nations?

Changes….that’s what love makes one do.  First the Gamerscore Corrections update and now it appears that the My Xbox feature online at Xbox.com has undergone a bit of a change.  I can’t say that I like it all that much but here’s what I’ve gathered so far.  Check it out for yourself and let me know what you think.  This could be a work in progress.

There’s an old saying that cheaters never win and it seems like Microsoft is putting more substance to that saying when it comes to their Xbox Live and Gamerscore service.  A while back they stated something would be done about those who have gamesaved and cheated their way to a high Gamerscore.  Today they put the hammer down on those people and even gave them their own Scarlet Letter C.

Gamerscore Cheaters

Take a look at the Gamercard below and you’ll see how these gamers have been marked for all to see their shame.  There’s a Gamescore Corrections page to get familiar with the actions taken for those of you who are caught cheating.  Here are the basics of what will happen…

A LIVE player who obtained their gamerscore in this abnormal way will:

  • Find their gamerscore reset to zero, and
  • Be unable to regain all previously earned achievements, and
  • Be labeled as a “cheater” for the community to view.

Bravo is all I have to say on this!  I’ve never understood the point with obsessing over Gamerscore especially when you cheat to increase it.

Need some DSL service?  Is AT&T in your area and you’ve been waiting for a reason to sign up for internet service to get connected to Xbox Live?  Well, that reason comes in the form of an Xbox Live Vision Gold Pack (includes the Vision Cam, headset & 12-month Gold subscription), games and more in a new promotion going on at AT&T.
