One of the coolest Canadians I know and also one of my good friends, Jake Reardon of Microsoft Canada, showed me an awesome set of “essentials” last night for Canada Day today.  I can’t share with you all the musical goodies he showed me but I can share one thing from our conversation….free Canada Day gamerpics and a free Canada Day theme.

Naturally this is only available to our good friends in Canada.  Why is it that the Canada Day freebies are always so much better than practically anything on the Marketplace?  These gamerpics rock!  So Intangible 360, Pvt Jokar and all my other Canadian friends, head out and get your download on.  And Happy Canada Day!  Those of you attending the celebration with Jake are in for a treat.

I know all of you little ninjaholics are miffed at the Japan only demo arriving for Team Ninja’s Ninja Gaiden II.  Fear not though because just as the game releases to stores next week, so shall the demo.  Chris Paladino from Team GSB at Xbox posted details on its arrival by next week.  So if you don’t see the demo by June 6th, then send threats of Tenchu Z discs to Chris.

I will say though that after playing the game for a few hours, it is extremely bloody and violent.  This of course is in a very good way!  I’ve already unlocked 10 Achievements for mastering various arts of kicking ass.

Are you ready to take to the battlefield and experience that awesome Frostbite technology in Battlefield: Bad Company?  DICE is bringing a demo of the anticipated title to Xbox Live on June 5th!  Players will land on the battlefield as part of the ‘B’ or Bad Company, a wayward band of soldiers more interested in the pursuit of gold and personal financial gain than following the rules.

Gold Edition Battlefield: Bad Company

Thanks to my good friends at DICE and EA, I’m here to enlist 30 of you to head to battle early beginning tomorrow.  Listen up recruits and those of you who didn’t get in on the beta or haven’t pre-ordered!  It’s the 30 Codes for 30 Soldiers Giveaway!  I have thirty (30) exclusive Battlefield: Bad Company Demo tokens that will give you early access to the demo.  Just use the token at the Redeem Code option on Xbox Live.

To get one of the exclusive tokens, just leave a comment here or send me a message via Xbox Live.  Big thanks to the boys and girls at EA for sharing the Bad Company love with Unscripted 360!  Bad Company arrives in stores on June 25th in North America and June 27th in Europe.

Demo includes:

Single player

·  Reach rank 4 in the demo to unlock an exclusive in-game weapon

Remember that exclusive news about the free Army of Two DLC that was revealed here at U360?  Well EA Montreal revealed to the rest of the world the details on what to expect this week.

Players now have the chance to extend their experience with two brand new co-op campaign maps and an enhanced multiplayer map that offers more opportunities to show that a two-man team can be unstoppable. The free Veteran Map Pack, sponsored by Pontiac, will be available on May 29 in North America and Europe on Xbox LIVE® Marketplace and PLAYSTATION® Store.

Army of Two

Players will find themselves underground in a subway station in Kiev where they must find and destroy the central hub of a dangerous militia. The second map takes players back to SSC headquarters in Miami where they finally get the chance to take out Dalton, Rios and Salem’s ex-boss and the man responsible for framing them, in an intense boss fight where the glory of revenge is finally felt.

The Veteran Map Pack features dynamic and interactive environments including destructible objects that were not available in the retail version. The action also continues online with two-on-two teams battling it out in the China Canal Lock map.  Get ready for the action!  And you thought I was kidding about the free content didn’t you?

Army of Two fans listen up because I have some exclusive news for those of you who can’t wait for tonight’s show with LAGtv.  I spoke with EA Montreal earlier in the week and got the word that fans should expect new campaign maps for Army of Two very soon with an emphasis on soon.  And the best part about it is that the DLC will be free.  Let me say that again.  The upcoming downloadable content for Army of Two will cost you nothing because it’ll be free!  I got a pretty strong feeling during the conversation that the DLC will in fact be the new campaign maps.  Go pass the scoop around to all the Salem and Rios freaks out there.

Army of Two

I really enjoyed Army of Two as you can tell from my review of it and I’m looking forward to getting more life into the game with the new maps.  I’m not sure if any new weapons are coming but I’ll try to pressure the AOT crew in Montreal for more intel.

They didn’t fall for all of my Jedi force persuasion but at least I got news of this little gem out of them.  Expect some free DLC to hit the Marketplace very soon.

It’s not often that I dig into a demo on Xbox Live but hey, it’s my party and I can dig if I want to.  The demo for The Bourne Conspiracy was much more than I expected.  If you haven’t downloaded it, make sure that you do.  I thought it did great in capturing the intense action that I love about each of the three Bourne films.  I didn’t even care that it wasn’t Matt Damon’s likeness.  I felt like a serious agent who couldn’t be stopped.  And really, who doesn’t love the intro music?  It’s a perfect suspense track.

The hand-to-hand combat in the game was pulled off with multiple presses of the X and Y button.  The A button was used to block.  (I never quite mastered blocking)  I hope there are more combinations than those 2 buttons but even if there isn’t, it was cool I thought.  Pressing the B button was for performing a variety of sick beat downs that I never got tired of looking at.  Once you beat your guy up enough, the B button take-down option comes up.

The one thing I didn’t like was having to start over so many times.  It could’ve been my lack of experience but I’ll chalk it up to the difficulty because I kept getting my ass kicked for some reason.  The crazy thing is that I enjoyed every minute of it.  I didn’t care too much for the “press (whatever button) to escape” scenes either.  It seemed to just kill the action for me.  I’m ready to jump between buildings and evade sniper fire in one awesome flow but then I have to “hit A” all of a sudden.  Kill joy.

I didn’t get a chance to fire any weapons.  I’m not even sure if there are weapons in the demo but I can tell you that I’ll be all over The Bourne Conspiracy when it releases.  I had my doubts about this game but the demo has settled those doubts.  It made me feel like I was in an actual Bourne action film.  I am Jason Bourne and I am preparing to hunt you down!  The hunt & action begins June 3rd.  Be sure to hit up www.bournethegame.com to find out more about The Bourne Conspiracy.

You’ve hopefully seen the videos here on U360 already for Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit and now you can actually get your Vegeta and Goku action on with the demo on Xbox Live!

Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit

I almost soiled myself a little bit when I got the word from Sierra Entertainment that they released some free downloadable content for TimeShift.  It’s called the Futures-Past Multiplayer Map Packand it features five new multiplayer maps for players to unravel while annihilating online enemies with time-bending chrono grenades and 2 new multiplayer modes.  Each map presented in the DLC package supports classic multiplayer modes: One-on-One, Deathmatch, and Team Deathmatch.

TimeShift

And if you’re tired of the same old Deathmatch modes, it also includes two exclusive multiplayer modes, King of Time and Meltdown Madness, that they claim will reveal the future of multiplayer fragging.  We shall see about that claim.  The best and most ubertastic thing about this is that it’s all free!  Yes, that’s F-R-E-E kind of free as in you don’t have to use any Microsoft Points on them.

That’s 5 new maps and 2 new modes at your disposal.  What’s that reason again for constantly being charged for everyone else’s map packs?

Shortly after we’ve all wrapped up in the Unscripted Nights event tonight, Epic Games will unleash the very first look at actual gameplay from Gears of War 2.  The trailer is set to hit the Xbox Live Marketplace tonight following the 10PM PST / 1AM EST premiere on Spike TV’s “Gametrailers TV with Geoff Keighley”.  It’s supposedly a 2-minute trailer featuring a look at some insane chainsaw duels.  I’m really excited to see the new Unreal Engine 3 in action!

Gears of War 2

It should be one hell of a night tonight with a little thuggin’ with Unscripted Nights followed by some good old fashioned COG Town action to wrap things up.  Be ready to thug it up and then download the world premiere gameplay trailer for Gears of War 2 tonight!
