AT&T Xbox 360

Check out the ultimate in Xbox 360 accessories.  Why travel with a regular, boring briefcase when you can travel in so much more style and with so much more purpose?  I suppose there can be one exception to the Xbox 360 Law about carrying a backpack as this is clearly not a backpack.  So excuse the fact that it’s technically still a carrying accessory because it’s that damn awesome.  The holidays just keep getting better!  Yes I’m a boy who likes his toys.

Ok so I’ve hit you with the Games category in my Starting Lineup and now it’s time for the Accessories that should accompany any purchase of an Xbox 360 this holiday season.  In order to capitalize, you must accessorize.  I should make that some sort of Xbox 360 Law.

Live Vision Camera - This little device jumped straight to the top of the list rather quickly.  I just think it adds so much to the Xbox 360 experience if used properly.  I’ve been having a lot of fun just remapping my face in World Series of Poker or just video chatting.  Not sure what this is?  Try reading the Vision Camera FAQ.

360 Wireless Headset - It’s coming.  The design looks great and you can finally put an end to the hassle that was walking around with your headset connected to your controller.  Deacon likes.  Deacon must be completely wireless.

Quick Charge Kit - Worried about your controller running out of juice?  The Play & Charge Kit is okay but it has nothing on the Quick Charge Kit.  And that is in both design and convenience.  If you’re all about wireless like myself, then having the cable of the Play & Charge just doesn’t cut it.  I need to invest in this kit soon and so do you.  It will ensure that you have a ready-charged battery pack on tap at all times.

360 Wireless Networking Adapter - If you are like me, then you once had to deal with unplugging your ethernet cable from the computer to your Xbox 360 then again from your Xbox 360 to your computer as you sat juggling Xbox Live and surfing the internet.  Well, one day I finally got to getting this device and those days of unplugging are over.  It’s easy to set up and it looks great connecting to the 360.

HD-DVD player - Ok.  I’m an HDTV guy.  I love high definition.  I’m also a standalone player kind of guy.  And if I’m listing this in my Starting Lineup, then it has to be something worthwhile.  This is the first time I’ve considered anything outside of a standalone player.  I’ve never used a console for DVD playback but that may soon change once this hits shelves.  I suggest any HD person to look into the 360 HD-DVD player this holiday season.

Well that’s my Starting Lineup.  But ofcourse as always you need a deep, quality bench to win a game.  Racking up minutes off the bench are the 360 Wireless Controller, Play & Charge Kit, 360 Memory Unit and a 360 Faceplate for any quick change up.

It doesn’t take much to know that with the release of the Xbox Live Vision Camera, the members of the Xbox community have been buzzing with questions about how they can protect themselves online against inappropriate behavior.  Tony Hynes, who many of you know as Bastelyon, got to the heart of the issue and posted an article on Gamerscoreblog addressing that very issue.  He spoke with Christopher, the Xbox Live Policy Program Manager to find out some simple ways to make the Xbox Live experience better for everyone.

There are some very interestings things/pics to note in the article so be sure you click the link and give it a read.

Let’s face it, there are many people out there who will probably get the Xbox Live Vision Camera and a good portion of those probably know very little about the PC.  So I figured I’d come up with a PC walkthrough to help those get this little thing set up properly on the PC.  I’ve included pictures for those who are like me and believe that a picture is worth a thousand words.  I’m running Windows XP Home.  And a small note…yes the ring of light still glows when connected to a PC.

I hope this helps some of the less technically inclined souls out there.  Be sure to also read the Microsoft support article for more information.

  • Step 1 - shows what happens immediately when the Vision Camera is inserted into a USB port on your PC
  • Step 2 - shows the Wizard that pops up prompting you to install Xbox Security Method 3, Version 1.00…select (Recommended) to install the needed software to make the Vision Camera work
  • Step 3 - shows the end result if things went well…just click finish
  • Step 4 - shows the new hardware ready to use
  • Windows Live Messenger - this was an extra I took a shot of showing the settings for use with Windows Live Messenger.  just go to Tools and adjust your Audio/Video setup

I’m sure you all were waiting for this after so much has been said about the Xbox Live Vision Camera.  Well, here’s an update to the hot little accessory from Microsoft.  For those unfamiliar, U360 gathered a useful Xbox Live Vision Camera FAQ for ya.  Meanwhile, read what the latest is on the Vision Camera from Microsoft…

We wanted to give you a heads up that the long awaited Xbox Live Vision for Xbox 360 launches today, Tuesday September 19. Xbox Live Vision is an affordable next-generation camera that allows gamers to chat via video in real time with their friends and family, send photo messages, put their own face in a supported game, and customize their gamertag on the Xbox Live network.

Tomorrow, Wednesday, September 20, four previously released games will receive automatic updates on Xbox Live Arcade, making them Xbox Live Vision-enabled, including:

Bankshot Billiards 2
Hardwood Hearts
Hardwood Spades
Hardwood Backgammon

These games will join UNO!, the classic card game for Xbox Live Arcade that is already compatible with Xbox Live Vision, giving gamers a lineup of popular titles to play with Xbox Live Vision, right out of the box!

We’d also like to remind parents who have young children to enable Family Friendly settings for their kids Xbox Live account, and to configure the settings to the communication level with which they are most comfortable.  For more information about Xbox Live Vision and Family Settings, please visit Xbox.com.

Here is a useful FAQ I came up with for those 3 or 4 people unaware of the latest accessory craze going on with the Xbox 360…the Xbox Live Vision Camera.

Time to start planning ahead for an explosion of Xbox 360 accessories soon!  Gamerscoreblog has listed the news out of Germany on the pricing and release schedule for the Xbox Live Vision Camera and other 360 accessories due out this year.

Xbox Live Vision camera for the Xbox 360 system - The camera will be available in the U.S. on Sept. 19 and in Europe on Oct. 6 in two packages:

  • Xbox Live Vision - This package includes Xbox Live Vision camera, one-month Xbox Live Gold Membership, Xbox 360 Headset, and free* downloads of two full-version Xbox Live Arcade games: the popular “UNO®” card game and “TotemBall,” the new 3-D platform game from Freeverse and Strange Flavour Ltd. that is a mixture of platform skills and puzzles (estimated retail price (ERP) $39.99 U.S./ €49.99**)
  • Xbox Live Video Chat Gold Kit - This package includes the Xbox Live Vision camera, a 12-month Xbox Live Gold Membership, an Xbox 360 Headset, free* downloads of three full-version Xbox Live Arcade games — the “UNO” card game, “TotemBall,” and the classic “Robotron™” action shooter — and 200 Microsoft Points (ERP $79.99 U.S./€89.99**)

Sort of but not really.  As with all releases whether it be a game or a cool accessory, some local retail chain is bound to test the boundaries of the ’scheduled release’ dates by either selling before the date or just plain old goofing up.

A few days ago news throughout the Xbox 360 community surfaced of local Toys R ‘Us chains selling the Live Vision Camera already!  This news started on August 18.  Thanks to Xbox 360 gamer, bigman606, for the pics.

No this doesn’t signal the worldwide release of the Vision Camera.  This would signal a goof in my opinion…one of those goofs that just come with the business and for those of you who got lucky…enjoy.  Those of you wondering what came with the purchase, here are the details:

  • Price - $39.99 US
  • Xbox Live Vision Camera
  • 1 Month Subscription Xbox Live Gold
  • Xbox Live 360 Headset
  • Registration code for Xbox Live Arcade title Uno
