TGS 2007 has begun and the plans for Bringing It Home from the show can officially begin. The event runs from September 20 - 23 and it’s the biggest show in Japan. What demos, themes and other content will we see? You can catch up with the happenings of the Tokyo Game Show with everyone’s favorite Zuma player, TriXie. She’s in Japan all decked out in her new Chuck Taylors to cover the event.
I’ll try to keep you up to speed on any hotness coming out of the event here as well.
Yeah I know…how many expos and events do we need during the year right? I say there are never enough geek fests! Microsoft plans to deliver another Bringing It Home campaign for this year’s Tokyo Game Show. In fact, it’s already begun with goodies being available right now on the Xbox Live Marketplace. The first of which is a teaser trailer for Ninja Gaiden 2.

Although not a part of the Bringing It Home campaign, there’s also a Best Buy Halo 3 Theme & Picture Pack. (limited time so download quickly) You can see pics from the picture pack above. Also, you can snag a demo for Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground as well right now.
I’ll have more from the Tokyo Game Show when it officially begins next week so be sure to subscribe to the feed or keep it locked right here.
You’ve seen my lineups for Games and Accessories already. Hopefully they helped you sort through all the hottest titles and accessories to make your holiday shopping easier. Now it’s time for another round of my Starting Lineup and this time it’s about the hottest stories that got the community in a frenzy this year.
What were we all talking about? What made the biggest splash in the headlines this year? Are you ready for my Starting Lineup?
X06 - What didn’t come out of this show that wasn’t worth headlines? You can start with the Peter Jackson partnership to the announcement of Halo Wars. There was so much heading out of this event that it was hard to count. The next installment in the Splinter Cell series is exclusive to Xbox 360. X06 brought the noise!
TGS (Tokyo Game Show) - There was more good news prior to X06 at TGS. 1080p! Many will argue about how it can be done and that’s exactly why it was another of the top stories this year. HD enthusiasts were divided on whether or not it was possible but the fact remains, the Xbox 360 was about to be 1080p enabled!
Xbox 360 System Update (Spring) - When the Xbox 360 launched, there were some noticeable improvements that could be made. The biggest of which was addressed in the Spring system update…Active Downloading!
Gears of War Emergence Day - I can’t recall in the brief history of both the original Xbox and the Xbox 360 if there was ever a release date that created more buzz than the announcement of the Gears of War release date and subsequent plans for Emergence Day. It hit like a meteor across the community and is still being talked about due to how hard core the game turned out to be.
E3 2006 Halo 3 - This year’s E3 brought one thing that I’m sure no one will soon forget…the unveiling of Halo 3. What’s so fascinating about the trailer that debuted at E3 was the fact that it was IN GAME. It wasn’t some computer generated cinematic. The visuals you saw in the Halo 3 trailer were the same you’ll see in the game. When the trailer hit the internet and the Xbox Live Marketplace, there were massive downloads!
There you have it. The top stories of 2006 that made it into my starting lineup. And as always, every starting 5 needs a solid bench to make the rotation strong. Getting some quality minutes off the bench are the stories on the Xbox Live Vision Camera, E3 2006 Grand Theft Auto IV announcement, Bringing It Home E3 2006, and Xbox Live Arcade Wednesdays.

Well folks…you’re going to have to just love the stateside version of me because I wasn’t able to make the flight to Tokyo for TGS. A pretty serious family situation came up that took precedence over any flight travels…one such being the flight to Tokyo to bring you all some Tokyo Game Show goodies. I was really looking forward to going and meeting up with the guys at Gamerscoreblog, Major Nelson and just having a good time representing the Xbox community.
But alas, I am still stateside but believe that the one thing that could’ve prevented me from going happened and I had to devote immedate attention to the situation. I want to send my thanks to Tony Hynes for understanding the situation and not delaying for one second in telling me to take care of home before all else.
Sorry I couldn’t throw down the Deac way ladies and gents. I’ll see if I can still gather myself and bring some TGS to you even though it won’t be firsthand. Hopefully, I’ll be invited again for next year’s TGS. Until then, let’s get on with the show shall we.
I’m heavy into packing and getting other details situated for my trip to Tokyo. I told you it would be crazy leading up to the event. I mean no Saturday show…what on Earth is the world coming to. Things should settle back into normal later today and I’ll be able to relax a bit before the plane ride tomorrow.

Keep your eyes posted here though as I’ll be delivering the play by play during my time in Tokyo from beginning to end. You don’t want to miss a thing! There’s a long week ahead of me and I hope you all enjoy it with me.
On a side note, Nyko sent the Multi-Reader 360 to me this weekend and so far it works like a charm. Look for my impressions of it when I return. Atari sent Test Drive Unlimited as well and I’ll get a review of that up if my XGP crew doesn’t beat me to it. Saints Row is still amazing me! I’ll try to hammer out a review of that as well on the plane ride over or wrap it up when I return. Yes, Deacon is always in the thick of this gaming shizzle.
September 16 2005
TGS 2005 is underway and Microsoft is set to deliver for the first time, hand’s on play with several of the titles to be released for the Xbox 360. Remember when you heard about some hand’s on with Call of Duty 2, Dead Rising or Ridge Racer 6?
THQ even displayed some Saint’s Row at TGS 2005.
With these games clearly being among the favorites of 360 owners now, it’s fun looking back on when we all began to get excited for these titles. Call of Duty 2 is a million seller now and Dead Rising made huge waves for Capcom…and Saint’s Row is getting thug with many a fan as well.
I wonder what will make it to the flashback next year after this year’s Tokyo Game Show ends.

Where were you on this day? What were you doing when Microsoft, on the eve of the Tokyo Game Show 2005, unveiled the launch details for the Xbox 360?
Tuesday, November 22 in North America, Friday, December 2 in Europe, and Saturday, December 10 in Japan.

This would mark the first time that a game console would be launched in 3 territories in the same time frame…the first worldwide launch.
More than 40 publishers in Japan would pledge their support for the Xbox 360 including Bandai Co. Ltd., Capcom Co. Ltd., Koei Co. Ltd., Konami Corp., Namco Ltd., Sega Corp., Square Enix Co. Ltd. and Tecmo Ltd.
“This holiday season, gamers in Japan, Europe and North America pining to experience jaw-dropping high-definition graphics, unmatched online play and compelling digital entertainment features of Xbox 360 will finally have the chance,” said Robbie Bach, chief Xbox officer for Microsoft.

September 22-24 prepare for it…the Tokyo Game Show 2006! The theme of this year’s show is “New Excitement. New Sensations. A New Generation.” Microsoft will have its keynote before the event actually starts on the Wednesday prior, September 20, which is a new tactic that should bode well. What can you expect? What games and demos? Surely you know that much like E3 2006, Microsoft plans to unleash a variety of content from the Tokyo Game Show including demos, trailers and other content for our Japanese brethren.
Also of note, Japanese consumers will enjoy an entire week of Xbox Live Gold for free and gain access to all the HD content and demos as well. Will this include North American and European markets? We shall see.
But that’s not really the best news about the Tokyo Game Show. The best news…the absolute most exciting news is that yours truly will be attending the event to bring you all a first hand experience! That’s right, Microsoft invited me out and I’m bringing TGS 2006 to your eyes and ears folks! I’ll be in Tokyo attending the show trying to give you all a taste of what the Xbox and Xbox 360 are delivering to the masses across the ocean.
So get ready because I’m going in to do battle in a foreign environment just for you…I’m prepared for the steady diet of McDonald’s and all else just for you.
TGS 2006 is about to get Unscripted!
