THQ’s Saint’s Row was quite honestly the first sandbox game that I enjoyed. I’m not really sure why that is but I tried the Grand Theft Auto series and even True Crime but it wasn’t until Saint’s Row came that I found enjoyment in the genre. Saint’s Row 2 is shaping up to be a worthy sequel judging from TXB’s recent posting of new screenshots. Anyone else ready for the return of the gangstas in purple?
“Saints Row 2 has a much darker and more sinister story that leads your character down a path of betrayal, revenge and redemption against the city that has left him for dead, although we’ve blended that with the same light-hearted humor from the original.” said Greg Donovan, lead producer, Volition, Inc. “Couple that with the most robust open-world feature set ever developed in the genre, and Saints Row 2 promises a gaming experience that will offer players the perfect balance of gripping narrative and compelling gameplay options.”

Yep that magical yellow sponge is up in the Xbox Live Arcade today for those of you who didn’t know. It’s an exclusive treat for Xbox 360 owners just in time for more holiday relaxation and laziness. I’m already feeling the burn of returning to work from a short vacation. So grab a couch, download and enjoy THQ’s SpongeBob SquarePants Underpants Slam.

How much: 800 Microsoft Points
The benefits of Gold are small to some and very small to others so I’m not sure how this bit of news will help. Silver members on Xbox Live will have to wait a week to download any free content including demos from the Xbox Live Marketplace. Content marked with a red circle and slash is content that falls under this new restriction. (image courtesy of Major Nelson)

Gold members naturally have immediate access to the new content but if you’re only sporting a Silver account, then you’ll have to wait. I know some of you know about this as it was implemented with the latest system update but I figured I’d let the rest of the world know as well. It just dawned on me after the Frontlines: Fuels of War demo was released.
So Gold members enjoy and Silver members find something else to do for a week. (smile)
I’m not sure how many of you have seen this particular video for the upcoming MX vs ATV Untamed from Rainbow Studios and THQ but I couldn’t live with myself if I didn’t share it. It’s from one of the marketing companies helping to promote the game. They emailed me so naturally I took a peek and felt it worthy of sharing. I’m sure some of you will thank me after viewing it.

It’s 4 wheels versus 2 wheels in some offroad racing. You can head out after watching the video to grab the demo for MX vs ATV Untamed on the Xbox Live Marketplace. Click here to see what put the “Oh My” in this article and watch the video now! The game hits stores on December 17th. (video actresses not included)
The holiday season just continues to wreck havoc on every gamer’s bank account. The string of potential hits continue this week with a fury of anticipated titles hitting store shelves!
What’s going to be on your gamer card?
Assassin’s Creed - The setting is 1191 A.D. The Third Crusade is tearing the Holy Land apart. You, Altair, intend to stop the hostilities by suppressing both sides of the conflict. $59.99

Kane & Lynch: Dead Men - Enter the violent and chaotic journey of two men—a flawed mercenary and a medicated psychopath. The heat is on. $59.99
THQ continues its little wrasslin’ franchise with Smackdown Vs. Raw 2008 featuring ECW. The demo is currently up in the Xbox Live Marketplace so prepare to dish out an RKO or FU before the game drops. I don’t know which characters are available in the demo.
I’m expecting this game to continue with its quality and add to the craziness that is professional wrestling especially with the ECW brand on board. It’s time to play the game!

There are demos up for the above titles that you might want to grab. I’ve been able to play both of these games in the last month or so and I can’t wait to get some more time with them.
The Simpsons Game is definitely on the must-have list after the EA Studio Showcase visit last month. It was afterall, part of my “Best Of” feature. I’m also ready to get some more time with Conan. After playing it a bit at this year’s Penny Arcade Expo, I was ready for its release.

Are you ready to crash & burn? THQ’s Stuntman: Ignition is the latest demo to hit the Xbox Live Marketplace during Microsoft’s Bringing It Home campaign. The trailers for this game look really wild and I’m ready to blow up some ****! (yes I edited myself for more effect) Head out and download Stuntman: Ignition before it disappears again.

Rating Guide: How I Review Games
Review:
There aren’t many ways to reinvent the worldwide phenomenon that is Tetris but THQ has decided to give it a shot because everyone still loves Tetris. I’ll admit that I expected a title like this to explode on the Xbox Live Arcade at some point but instead, we have a retail version. It’s called Evolution but has it truly evolved the game? Ofcourse not. We are still talking about Tetris afterall so how much more different can stacking blocks get?
There wasn’t an attempt to redefine the game and for that I was happy. What THQ and Mass Media managed to do was bring an interesting twist to the franchise with some cosmetic changes. And they did it in 1080p as well for all you high definition junkies. Yes, Tetris Evolution can run in 1080p.
