Here’s a review of the Shivering Isles expansion pack by one of Unscripted 360’s listeners and readers. I thought I’d share it with all of you Oblivion fans out there since I couldn’t review it myself. The guidelines are roughly the same as I use when reviewing so I included my Rating Guide as well.

Rating Guide: How I Review Games
Review:
Part of what makes Oblivion so great is the power of personal choice given to the players to control their own game experience. These choices impact almost every aspect of the experience. It first starts with the creation of your character and choice of its birth sign. These options impact the skillset your character will possess from that point on. Additionally, you are also offered the option of selecting your class of character, which also impacts how it will develop. For the purposes of clarification, my main Oblivion character is a Norde, birth sign Warrior, class Knight. Essentially, what this means is my character is set up as a good (as in non-evil) brute force, melee combat person that attacks fast, loud, hard and manually. There is little ability to use magic, stealth or engage in criminal activity. Based on that, my experience may differ considerably from what you may discover. It is important to note that as I review this I am speaking mainly from my own experience and you could likely find your gameplay different.
Oblivion fans rejoice as Bethesda has released the Shivering Isles expansion pack a day early. This means you can get it before the scheduled maintenance tomorrow! I’m hoping this is a planned early release and not one where it’ll be pulled. But just in case, you need to be quick on the active download.

The download comes in at 993.75MB. It’s a whopper indeed. Remember it will cost you 2400 Microsoft Points.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Shivering Isles has already been priced and a date has already been set for when Xbox 360 fans can download it. Today Bethesda released a trailer showcasing a bit of what to expect in the new expansion pack.

Also, a new theme and picture pack for Shivering Isles should be making its way to the Xbox Live Marketplace later today. I’m sure the typical price of 150 Microsoft Points will apply for the theme and 60-100 Microsoft Points for the picture pack. Watch the Marketplace for the delivery! I’ll update this when they become available.
The Elder Scrolls IV: Shivering Isles just might make you shiver after all especially when you look at your Microsoft Points balance after you opt to download it when it’s released. In an interview posted a few days ago on the official forums for Elder Scrolls, Todd Howard, Executive Producer, spoke about the release date and price for this new expansion saga.

PC gamers and Xbox 360 owners alike will have Shivering Isles on March 27. It’ll cost $30 for PC players or 2400 Microsoft Points for Xbox 360 owners to download it. I suppose with so much being done to this expansion, this price shouldn’t be received too harshly. It’s a little too rich for my blood but what about yours? What say you?
Boy how time flies when you’re playing great games, getting dashboard updates and logging in millions of sessions over Xbox Live huh? Do you remember camping and the Best Buy 360 locators that were spreading around in the community during launch? I sure do.
It’s been a long, fun ride this past year and I’d like you all to join me in giving a big WOOT! to the Xbox 360 for a great first year! It’s been an amazing year with a lot of surprises and announcements. I can’t wait to see what the coming year(s) will bring.

You’d think that a console would take its birthday off but nope…not the Xbox 360. Today you can head out to the Xbox Live Marketplace and download Small Arms, new Obilivion content in Knights of the Nine and the Xbox Live Video Marketplace comes alive today as well! And I won’t even mention that tomorrow the Lost Planet multiplayer demo hits. (ok so I just did)
And if those weren’t enough reasons to sit down this holiday weekend with the Xbox 360, then how about 360+ more reasons to love it! Xbox.com’s TriXie, came up with over 360 reasons for you to settle down with the Xbox 360. I love #317 the best! I was informed that the list isn’t in order of importance but who cares…#317 ROCKS BABY!
Happy Birthday Xbox 360!
