Boy how time flies when you’re playing great games, getting dashboard updates and logging in millions of sessions over Xbox Live huh?  Do you remember camping and the Best Buy 360 locators that were spreading around in the community during launch?  I sure do.

It’s been a long, fun ride this past year and I’d like you all to join me in giving a big WOOT! to the Xbox 360 for a great first year!  It’s been an amazing year with a lot of surprises and announcements.  I can’t wait to see what the coming year(s) will bring.

Xbox 360

You’d think that a console would take its birthday off but nope…not the Xbox 360.  Today you can head out to the Xbox Live Marketplace and download Small Arms, new Obilivion content in Knights of the Nine and the Xbox Live Video Marketplace comes alive today as well!  And I won’t even mention that tomorrow the Lost Planet multiplayer demo hits. (ok so I just did)

And if those weren’t enough reasons to sit down this holiday weekend with the Xbox 360, then how about 360+ more reasons to love it!  Xbox.com’s TriXie, came up with over 360 reasons for you to settle down with the Xbox 360.  I love #317 the best!  I was informed that the list isn’t in order of importance but who cares…#317 ROCKS BABY!

Happy Birthday Xbox 360!

Yes…more from Lost Planet.  Things happened so fast with the interviews and then the hands on report, that I didn’t get to share any photos with everyone.  So instead of taking attention from those already established news bits, I figured I’d make a separate one sharing the photos that were captured at the event.

DeaconBlade & NDA

These come courtesy of the guys at Gamerscoreblog. (thanks John) The mystery that was DeaconBlade is now over.  You may all stop sending guesses and requests now lol.  That’s me in the photo above getting serious with the Capcom NDA.  We were getting the initial brief on what is and isn’t allowed.  In that particular room, we were getting ready to watch the new Lost Planet trailer debuting in theaters soon.  Reading the NDA was my one and only serious moment; everything else was nothing but fun and trash talking.

Head on over to Gamescoreblog’s Flickr to see the rest of the guys and yours truly enjoying some Lost Planet.  There should be some video forthcoming as well.  When I see it out there, I’ll update this.

This past weekend I and a few other Xbox MVPs got a chance to sit down with Capcom and their upcoming Xbox 360 exclusive, Lost Planet: Extreme Condition.  It was one heck of an event that took place in Redmond at the Microsoft campus.  We got a chance to play the game and a few of us even had the opportunity to do an interview with the team.  Be sure to listen in on that after you read the hands on report.

Listen to the Capcom Lost Planet Exclusive Interview

Lost Planet: Extreme Condition

Brief story on the game:

Human snow pirates navigate Vital Suits (VS) through hostile ice-covered environments in Lost Planet: Extreme Condition, fighting against the indigenous Akrid creatures for the precious thermal energy they need to survive. For one such pilot named Wayne, death almost seemed imminent until he was fortunately rescued.

Event recap:

I wanted to pass the word around to you guys to head out and pre-order this game RIGHT NOW.  We had a chance to play a lot of multiplayer and tons of single player as well.  The game has received an incredible upgrade since many of you last saw it (E3 demo)  There aren’t many games on the market that actually manage to make you ‘feel’ like you’re a part of the game but this one does.  As I was playing through additional levels of the single campaign, I actually felt like I was on some freezing planet…visually it was that good.  The particle effects, environment etc…amazing!  You all remember the explosions being so well done in the demo I’m sure…well multiply those by 100.  They’re even better now.  The grappling device has also changed.  You can now extend it longer and they’ve added the ability to lower/raise yourself from the ledges that you attach to.  You can shoot or throw grenades while you’re extended from a ledge.  The grappling device also allows for some pretty nifty combat when attached to the Akrid.  Depending on where you shoot it, you’ll pull yourself to the creature and perform a cool move.

Well the show is over.  The fun with Lost Planet: Extreme Condition has ended.  Yours truly is back home in the basement.  I was going to recap everything in Episode #21 (and I still might) but I wanted to give you guys an inside look courtesy of my good friend, Godfree from Gamertag Radio.  So I present GTR’s Episode #78.  I’m listing it below as well for those who want to quickly play it from U360.  Head over to the GTR link above for the download.

Gamertag Radio Exclusive

During the Lost Planet Summit, a few of the community guys (me included) sat down for a roundtable discussion with the guys from Capcom.  I thought I’d present it to you so you could listen in on it if you haven’t stopped by GTR to take a listen.  Thanks again to Godfree for having a ’show on wheels’ as I like to call it, which made it possible for us to not only grab an interview with the guys at Capcom but to also (as the title suggests), grab an interview with the guys from Gastronaut Studios about Small Arms.  Katie Stone, the Game Program Manager with Xbox Live Arcade, and Chris Paladino, from Gamerscore Blog, were also there for the roundtable discussion.  Fragmaster B and Chris from Gamercast Network were there as well.  I won’t go into any of the travel details because I don’t want Chris to hammer me, but let’s just say the trip to and from Gastronaut Studios was an event in itself.  We had a ton of fun just getting there.

So here you have 2 roundtable discussions all bundled into one sweet audio interview.  Don’t talk, just listen.

I know a LOT of people are anxiously awaiting both titles.  And after playing them, I can safely say that you’re in for a treat with both!  I’ll have more about the event very soon…so stay tuned!

Well I’m here.  I met up with the Capcom team, a few MVPs and Tony Hynes/Chris Paladino from the Microsoft Community Team.  Right now I’m in a fancy room with Godfree from Gamertag Radio and Xbox 365’s Coola.  We’re not doing much except winding down.

I’m looking forward to getting some time with Lost Planet.  And since the internet connection here at the hotel is fairly decent, I’ll be able to post pretty quickly about it.

Well stay tuned guys and gals.  Keep enjoying Episode #20 while Deacon’s out in extreme conditions! (really cold in Seattle)

I don’t have to say much about this game do I?  Everyone remembers the E3 Lost Planet demo that had the entire Xbox 360 community buzzing with excitement don’t you?  If there is any magical secret to scoring a successful demo on the Xbox Live Marketplace, then Capcom has mastered it.  I haven’t deleted the demo yet and probably won’t until the release of the game.  The Lost Planet demo even managed to be nominated in the best Xbox Live Marketplace item category for this year’s Xbox Community Awards

Lost Planet

Well, yours truly is about to enter the freezing cold and withstand extreme conditions (just for you) as I go hand’s on with Lost Planet: Extreme Condition this week.  Did you hear me?  Hand’s on with Lost Planet!  Capcom recently extended an invitation to select members of the community to participate in a Lost Planet Community Summit.  I’m really looking forward to it and I hope I can bring some good impressions back for ya.

You know where to be for those impressions don’t you?  Right here.
