And the award for the cash cow of the year goes to…Grand Theft Auto IV. There was speculation and even doubt (namely by myself) that Grand Theft Auto IV couldn’t top the numbers that Halo 3 pulled in. Rockstar and Take Two proudly put all that speculation to bed today. I can haz job at Rockstar?

Take-Two Interactive Software Inc. said today that Grand Theft Auto IV has surpassed all-time entertainment records for day one and week one sales by dollar value. Released on Tuesday, April 29th, Grand Theft Auto IV, the critically acclaimed video game, has sold through to consumers approximately 6 million units globally with an estimated retail value of more than $500 million in the first week. Grand Theft Auto IV sold approximately 3.6 million units on its opening day with a retail value of approximately $310 million globally.
It’s been a long time coming. Unscripted Nights are back with an exciting Grand Theft Auto IV Gangsta Paradise party on Xbox Live this Friday! It’s always a blast when everyone gets together and I anticipate this will be no exception. Ready to play cops and robbers?

How do I join?
Simple. Send me a message via Xbox.com or Xbox Live with “GTA4″ and I’ll get you in the game. Or heck, if you see me on just join my session! There will be plenty of U360 community members able to invite you to the game.
With the release of Grand Theft Auto IV and all of the attention it has been receiving about its content, I wanted to visit the ESRB rating system to help shed some light on the uninformed. There are quite a few different ratings a game can receive. E (Everyone), E10+ (Everyone 10+), T (Teen), M (Mature) and a few more. I’ve had a few parents approach me asking for my opinion on buying the game for their 13 or 14 year old kid and I was really surprised at my response. I told them that I wouldn’t recommend it. I wouldn’t allow my daughter to play it even if she were 13 or 14 so I responded with that in mind.
There are some things in the game that even I had to ask if it was too much. Controversy is what this game has been about and apparently that’s not going to change. GTA IV is rated Mature. Let’s look into the game and break down its rating shall we?

It’s going down tonight. A special edition of U360 Live covering the release of Grand Theft Auto IV happens tonight at 9PM Central. Someone is going to win a regular edition copy of GTA IV for the Xbox 360. Who will it be? Tune in to find out.

How do I thug it up for the win?
Just post a comment or send me a message via Xbox Live and then listen in to the show tonight as usual for your name. Easy as jacking a car right? Ok, it’s easier than jacking a car so good luck. I’ll be in Liberty City this week to play with the winner and everyone else from U360!
The countdown is on for many people here in North America to the release of Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto IV. I can only imagine the hysteria that will go on tonight at various midnight release locations across the states. I set up a special show tomorrow night just to get everyone’s initial feedback on the game. I hope you all can pry yourselves away for a few minutes to share your GTA IV stories with the crowd.
Midnight release stories, first thoughts and impressions are all welcome on the GTA IV Special Edition Show. There’s even a special treat for one lucky person who may not have had the chance to get their little hands on a copy. (wink) Yes that means that someone will win a copy of Grand Theft Auto IV for the Xbox 360 on the show!

show time - 7PM PST / 9PM CST / 10PM EST

Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto IV releases next week (April 29) and I figured I’d let you guys and girls know where to hang out at for midnight releases. I don’t think I’ll be doing any midnight hunting but I do know that midnight releases are a fanboy’s treat so if you’re planning on grabbing this game when the clock strikes 12, then here are the places you need to be.
It doesn’t appear that there are very many locations that won’t be open so you should be okay to hit up any local retail store. And just an fyi, you’ll have to be there on Monday, April 28th sometime before midnight. (hey some people might not have known it’s actually April 28 midnight) There are some exciting things going down especially at the Best Buy stores in Canada where you could win a Limited Edition Grand Theft Auto IV themed Elite console!

The time to get gangsta is almost here and I know quite a few of you have already pre-ordered Grand Theft Auto IV. How many of you are getting the special edition? It comes with the game, an art book, a soundtrack CD “featuring new material from top artists, only available on this release,” a Rockstar keychain for the safety deposit box keys, and a limited edition Rockstar duffel bag.
It retails for $89.99 so it’ll set you back a pretty penny but it seems to be worth it. April 29th is less than a week away…hang tight all my thugs.

We had a really interesting discussion on the live show this past Saturday about Grand Theft Auto IV so it seems only fitting to start the week off with some details on its multiplayer modes. I’ll have the show up later today for the RSS, Zune and iTunes subscribers. It’s no secret that I haven’t been able to get into Grand Theft Auto as a whole but I’m hoping that will change when GTA IV releases this month.

The multiplayer modes revealed are Team Deathmatch, Team Mafiya Work, Team Car Jack City, Cops ‘n Crooks, Turf War, Race and GTA Race. The names don’t necessarily scream original but let’s take a look at the details anyway.
Team Deathmatch (2-8 teams)
Players work as a team to rub out other teams for money and the crew with the most cash at the end of the round wins. Take the other crew down. Remember to loot the cash dropped by deceased players. That’s the way to get ahead.
I’m sure many of you were anticipating the next-generation entry of Grand Theft Auto this October but unfortunately you’ll have to wait a tad bit longer.
Citing “additional development time needed” Take-Two Interactive announced the delay of the GTA IV for both the Xbox 360 and PS3. If that’s not proof enough for you all, take a look at the Xbox.com listing of Grand Theft Auto IV and you’ll notice the original October release has been changed to 2008.

And now the real guessing begins as to when in 2008 will we get to blow some **** up with Grand Theft Auto IV? And what exactly caused this “additional development time”?
The hype is steadily building for Rockstar’s latest entry into the Grand Theft Auto series. It’s coming. I can’t say that I”m excited but it’s coming nonetheless. Look for the second trailer titled “Looking For That Special Someone” to debut today at the official site for Grand Theft Auto IV.

Xbox 360 owners can expect it to appear in the Xbox Live Marketplace today as well. Fans itching for some GTA IV goodies right now, can can head out and download the free picture pack and theme for GTA IV! They’re available now.

My excitement level is around the medium level for this one. But I’m sure the legions of Rockstar fans are eagerly awaiting the next-gen appearance of this game. What say you?
