And the bodies at Epic Games continue to hit the floor. Following Rod Fergusson’s exit, Epic Games’ design director, Cliff Bleszinski, has decided to call it quits too. I’m not sure if this means anything to the future of Gears of War games or Epic Games in general but I can tell you that I’m not really shedding any tears. The guy is a millionaire and stands to make even more in residual income so I think he’ll be ok. Well played Cliff .. well played.
You’ve given me and millions of other gamers a ton of enjoyment and for that I thank you my friend. Gears of War is one of my favorite game universes and I have Mr. B. to think for that. I’m sure he’ll be fine. We all need a little break from time to time and when you throw in a new bride, I’m sure she wants more of the Cliff. (if you know what I mean)
“I’ve been doing this since I was a teenager, and outside of my sabbatical last year, I have been going non-stop. I literally grew up in this business,” Bleszinski said. “And now that I’m grown up, it’s time for a much needed break. I will miss the projects, the playtests, the debates, and most importantly, the people.”
What do you think of all the changes at Epic Games recently?
Epic Games has released some new info on the multiplayer portion of Gears of War: Judgement called Free for All. No more will you have to be a team player, you can now ride solo and wreck havoc on your other COG members. Hmm, Deacon should like this since he is The Lone Ranger (haha!). Also, two new maps have been confirmed; Gondola and Library.
Below is a screenshot of the Gondola map which is said to consist of the Costa Villa apartments that are part of the exclusive Havlo community located in the prestigious Agora Foothills. This quiet gated community is located only a short gondola ride from the renowned shops and businesses. Library, however, is not a typical library but an archive of important documents surrounding the life, career, and personal interests of Alexity Desipich, who was a fanatical socialist who created the concept of the Coalition of Ordered Governments (COG) before the Pendulum Wars.
This mode will debut at PAX Prime this week so my U360 family headed to PAX make sure you report back on this one!
Okay so Day 1 of our beloved E3 is in the books. It’s time to go over it and pick out the best of what the first day had to offer. This is my personal list and it may vary from yours but just use mine because it’ll likely be the best. (wink) In no particular order, these are the things that had me on the edge of my couch.
The Last of Us (PS3) – What’s there to even say about Naughty Dog’s latest? It kicked all kinds of hindparts. It is more violent than I thought it would be but that just amps up my anticipation. When Ellie threw that brick at one of the bad guys and Joel jumped in to hammer him I was like “I’ll take two now please”.
Anyway, Epic Games is planning a prequel to Gears of War and it’s set to be revealed at E3 and the next issue of Game Informer. The game is supposedly called Gears of War: Judgement and from the looks of it there will be no Marcus Fenix. I’m sure there will be though because what’s a Gears of War game without Fenix?
But then again considering the fact that developer People Can Fly is behind the title, maybe Epic Games doesn’t want Marcus in it. You remember People Can Fly don’t you? They’re the guys and girls behind Bulletstorm. I didn’t really care much for Bulletstorm and to be honest my excitement for this prequel just got a little less.
Cole Train Cuffed Baby!
Whether or not People Can Fly do justice to the Gears universe isn’t the only question. How will they approach the game without Marcus Fenix being front and center. It’s said to follow the path of Kilo Squad with Baird and Cole. Some leaked info from the Game Informer article speak of classes in the game. There will be an Engineer, Medic, Scout and Soldier class. Liking the sound of it?
The thing about pending reveals is that the speculation can never be 100% accurate so take these details with a grain of salt. At any rate, are you ready for more Gears of War action?
Today is Friday and I have some goodies for you. The last of Epic Games’ content for Gears of War 3 is up for grabs. One of you lucky Gears of War 3 players will be able to join me in some Forces of Nature action. Why spend 800 Microsoft Points when you can win it here at Unscripted 360?!
The Forces of Nature DLC comes with more maps, characters and weapon skins. You can get all the details on the content right here. I really like the Artillery map … it’s my favorite so far. There are even more Achievements to get.
How do I become a force?
It’s pretty easy. All you have to do is comment below or send me a message on Xbox Live and I’ll pick a winner this weekend.
