I know you all love getting glances at the box art for upcoming games so go a round with the official cover for 2K Sports’ Don King Presents: Prizefighter. The screenshots I’ve seen so far are promising so I hope we’ll have a good boxing fix with this one.
“The combination of real-life fight scenarios, story-driven gameplay and photo-realistic graphics will set this title apart from the competition,” said Christoph Hartmann, President of 2K. “Our goal has always been to deliver the most engaging and realistic titles, and Don King Presents: Prizefighter will exceed these expectations. Based on the game’s innovative features and high-profile fighters, this title will be a ‘must have’ for any sports gamer.”

2K Sports let the bag off of the players you can expect to play in the next chapter of their tennis franchise, Top Spin 3. The Williams sisters are still not playable and that’s a shame but they do bring out 3 of the game’s legends for the first time in a videogame. You can see some new screenshots of Top Spin 3 here.

“With Top Spin 3, we wanted to give gamers the choice to play with their favorite tennis players, as well as classic legends, an option that no other tennis game is offering,” said Chris Snyder, Director of Marketing for 2K Sports. “Boris Becker, Bjorn Borg and Monica Seles have given the game of tennis such great history, and we are excited to have them join the current roster of professionals in the most realistic tennis video game to date.”
2K Sports shared a series of interviews with me on their upcoming game, MLB 2K8. The videos feature Major League Baseball pro Dontrell Willis talking about various features in the game as well as sharing some candid comments about his career. I’ve hooked you up with all three so get your viewing on below.

Review:
I’ve been a huge fan of sports games ever since the Super Nintendo and Madden NFL Football. Every year I am one of those suckers that go out and plots money down on the yearly releases of sports games hoping that I see something new and great. Most of the time, I like the game. Every once in a while a stinker in the group comes along and ruins the game for me. I was always a fan of the 2K Sports College Basketball series and I usually buy it every year. Since upgrading to a 360 in 2006, I have not gotten around to getting back into the series until this year. How is it?
Ready, aim, serve! I’ve been a fan of the Top Spin series since it debuted. 2K Sports shares some new screenshots for the upcoming Top Spin 3, being developed at their PAM Development studio. Top Spin 3 includes more than 25 of the world’s top tennis superstars including Roger Federer, Andy Roddick, Maria Sharapova, James Blake, and many others. With all-new action-packed features including signature player animations and expressions, weather changes, situation-specific behaviors, along with revamped audio with enhanced crowd reaction, Top Spin 3 serves up a realistic and exciting tennis video game experience.

Fans will also have the opportunity to play on more than 40 prestigious and visually stunning venues from around the world such as Roland Garros in Paris (French Open) and Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne (Australian Open). Adding to the immersive gameplay experience, fans can utilize a new and innovative Player Creator to customize their own unique tennis stars with free-form body sculpting, makeup, and tattoos. Competitive players will also be able to create matches online and test their skills against friends or other ranked players around the world.

It’ll be available this Spring for the Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii. (screenshots are from 360 and PS3)
Projects - A
How can anyone forget BioShock, The Darkness or even Prey? 2K Games did magic with the few titles that it had on its plate last year. You have one game in BioShock that made its way to many awards and on many game of the year lists. And you have another in The Darkness that I believe deserves consideration for the sleeper of the year. I reviewed The Darkness so it shouldn’t be a surprise knowing that I really enjoyed it.
2K Sports tried to wage a good war as well with a lineup that included NBA 2K8 and College Hoops 2K8. However, there was this game called All-Pro 2K8 that also released. I’ve made my case on the fruity uniforms and judging from sales, I’d say that plenty of people shared that sentiment. It was 2K5 minus real names to be quite honest. I’m not sure why this was done and I imagine those reasons will never be shared with me.
Sure 2K Sports had some shortcomings with their projects, but 2K Games was a bright light with the amazing experience of BioShock and the gritty ride of The Darkness.
There’s no exclusive agreement with boxers is there? Ok, so we should see some of today’s top boxers in the latest announcement from 2K Sports, Don King Presents: Prizefighter. I know what you’re thinking. What the hell is Don King doing headlining a video game? We’ll have to wait and see.
“In all my years working in professional boxing, I have never seen anything come as close to recreating the thrill, the intensity, the courage and the spectacle of the sport,” said legendary boxing promoter Don King. “Don King Presents: Prizefighter is more than a game — it is a glimpse at what life is like in and out of the ring for these incredible athletes.”
