Xbox SmartGlass video feature, taking a quick look
I installed Windows 8 … the final RTM build of Windows 8. I had almost forgotten about Xbox SmartGlass until I noticed it while searching through apps on Windows 8. For those who don’t remember, Microsoft unveiled Xbox SmartGlass during E3 this year. It will allow you to enhance the content on your Xbox 360 from your Android, iOS, tablet, or PC. You’ll be able to keep yourself connected with your content seemingly everywhere.
The Xbox SmartGlass interface is one of the most beautiful you’ll ever see. |
Years ago Microsoft had an idea called Live Anywhere and it seems like those ambitious beginnings are finally coming to fruition. I don’t know about you but I’m an Xbox guy. I love the console and I get excited with the direction that Microsoft is going with it. If I can enhance the way I experience my Xbox 360 content across all of my devices as easily as Xbox SmartGlass seems to have made it, then I’m all in.

The process of connecting your console to PC via Xbox SmartGlass is easy. I took a few screenshots of the setup and uploaded a video that you can see below to check it out. What I wanted to point out though was how beautiful Windows 8 is on PC. I can only imagine how wonderful it’ll look on a Surface tablet. I have Touchsmart PC and it’s literally the best of both worlds with Windows 8. Navigating via Xbox SmartGlass is easy with both a mouse and touch control. I easily launched my game and accessed other content on my console with it. It’s not yet available on tablet or mobile phone but as soon as it is, I’ll be connecting Xbox SmartGlass on those devices.

The Xbox SmartGlass interface is one of the most beautiful you’ll ever see. Microsoft takes complete advantage of your PC (and soon tablet) will a vivid display of your console’s content. You’ll see more of it in the video below. Let me know what you think of it. I’m really hoping that Surface tablets will be priced competitively because I want the complete experience of Xbox SmartGlass and Windows 8.
