Army of Two The Devil’s Cartel brings two new characters
EA and Visceral Games are bringing the boys back! Well they’re not fully bringing Salem and Rios back but at least we get the masks back. Salem and Rios are still in the game but they’re now in support of two new main characters. The two new characters in EA’s rebirth of Army of Two will be Alpha and Bravo. Those are the code names of the characters and Visceral says you won’t learn their real names just yet.
Although Army of Two: The 40th Day received a less than stellar review here from Irish and Pilex, I still quite enjoyed the first one so I’m really excited to see its return. Another reason for my excitement is that they’re using the Frostbite 2 engine! The setting this time is Mexico so I hope that translates into some gritty action.

“I felt like the first two Army games were good games, but they weren’t great games,” says producer Zach Mumbach. “They were memorable and they were fun to play, but they weren’t on that level where you’re going to tell all your friends, ‘Man, you have to play this game.” I think that Visceral being involved, especially on Frostbite 2, is just a huge opportunity. “
Game Informer will have an exclusive look at the game in the September issue of the magazine. Those of you like me with digital subscriptions can check the September issue out right now via the PC digital, iPad digital or Android digital app.
From the issue, you can can see that the new characters are less steroid induced than the character models used before. Also gone is the “bromance” element. Make of that what you will. Let’s go March 2013!
