Why did Minecraft sell over 3 million units?
I have to admit that I find absolutely no interest in Minecraft. I was never interested in it before it was announced for Xbox Live Arcade and that didn’t change once it did release. Why did this game sell over 3 million units after its release? The game costs 1600 Microsoft Points. For those of you who haven’t “mined” a calculator in the game, that’s over $60 million!
Is it a ming trick being played on people to have them interested in a game that sets the visual progress in games back a few decades?

I suppose that might be what it is ultimately. Minecraft is simplicity like none before it. You’re given a landscape and it’s your choice to do what you will with it. And apparently people love creating. How many of you have been sucked in Minecraft either before Xbox or after?
Someone please tell me how this game managed to suck over 3 million people in!

It’s like grown up legos and I’m guessing a good amount of those people came over from the PC version.

Grown-up legos is a good description – If you haven’t tried Minecraft maybe you should – it’s addictive and fun. It’s free (with limited features) on the iPad and it will give you the feel of the game. What’s really cool, I think, is the ability to share levels you’ve built with others. Platform seems to be pretty limitless – just do a quick YouTube search for Minecraft vids. There’s some amazing stuff!

I love creation games, but my principles still stand. I’m not going to pay 1600 MS points for an XBLA game
