Gamer Unplugged, one gamer puts on his best Forrest Gump
“I don’t know, I just felt like running”. Remember that line from Tom Hanks as he got up one day and just started to run in the Forrest Gump movie? (I still love this movie by the way)
For no particular reason that day, Forrest just decided it was time to run and so he ran across the country. One of my fellow Xbox MVPs, Justin Amirkhani, decided to do the same thing. However, instead of running around aimlessly, he actually set forth on a cross-crountry adventure to visit as many game studios as he can. I have one word for ya … AWESOME!
The adventure is called Gamer Unplugged and with each step, the journey has been documented for all to experience. You can follow Justin’s journey here. He has already toured some pretty awesome places including Treyarch, Twisted Pixel and High Moon Studios!
“Gamer Unplugged is a cross-country backpacking trek with stops at major game studios along the way. The aim is to get a glimpse into the lives of developers in their natural habitats and discover the hidden personalities behind the games we all love to play so much. The journey will take me from Los Angeles to my home in Toronto and back again as I search high and low for the untold personal stories of developers and their studios.”
I think it’s one hell of an effort by Justin and I’ve been looking forward to each blog post about the places he has seen. If you want to donate a little to Justin’s efforts, you can do so and get a cool postcard in return. Hit up Gamer Unplugged to donate so he at least has a Pepsi to drink.

NICE .. i wish i could get the nerve to do what Forrest or Justin is doing .. but i have kids and a wife who probably wouldn’t let me lol

I’ve been actually trying to look into this. There’s so many awesome game studios all over the place, I’m curious which ones let normal humans go on a tour. I live in NY allegedly and would love to check out some of the local studios.
