Hitman Absolution Attack of the Saints trailer, was uproar necessary?
First things first … I’m ready to assassinate someone in order to play Hitman: Absolution right now! The Attack of the Saints trailer looks great and does an amazing job of depicting the kinds of situations Agent 47 will find himself in when the November release comes. No, the trailer isn’t filled with the in-game gameplay I prefer but the cinematics are still great. And we’ve seen enough actual gameplay to know that the game will look great.
When the trailer released though, a lot of people took to social media condemning its use of nuns dressed in tight leather outfits. It’s a video game trailer people. Lighten up! Some called the use of nuns “juvenile” and that it played upon the stereotype of gamers. Really?

I don’t see what the big deal is. Obviously, these female assassins aren’t REAL NUNS! They’re dressed LIKE nuns. And it looks like they can handle themselves. LOL! People need to lighten up.

I haven’t seen the video and if it’s anything like it’s described, I don’t want to either. I will say though that I think most of the outrage is due to how it portrays the game.
Despite his job title, 47 is *classy*. Playing him butchering a bunch of pseudo-nuns like an action movie thug is not the game I want to play, no matter how cool it’s made out to be. Nobody is REALLY pissed off because he’s killing people (he’s an assassin, duh), or because he’s killing women (he’s done that before, LOADS of times), or because he’s killing women dressed as nuns (he’s done worse, this is the same 47 who killed a MAILMAN)
47 has style, and as if the video wasn’t bad enough with all the heroics, you add in all the sexuality (which, while it’s been in the hitman games before has always had its place), and the attempted tittilation and it just comes off very very wrong.

Uproar was definitely necessary. That trailer was pure fan service. Female agents in sexy leather clothing makes absolutely no sense from a game-play or story perspective. The entire purpose of the trailer was to get the straight male viewership’s cocks hard, so not only does it reinforce ridiculous ideals, it insults the player integrity.
