Review:

You may think that you’d have enough of zombies in your console but you haven’t quite had them like this.  Double Six’ All Zombies Must Die! is the first game that gives zombies their own unique personality.  They aren’t just the mindless, brain seeking undead that you often fight.  Instead, they’re toxic, fiery and well .. they’re twisted!

You take on the role of Jake and you’re out to get the hell out of Deadhill, rescue the girl and save the world.  Along with a few friends you go through various levels trying to fight your way through dozens upon dozens of zombies.  The best part about All Zombies Must Die! is that you can literally continue to kill zombies in any level over and over.  The game has a leveling system so farming some XP for that eventual upgrade is a smart move.

The weapons in the game were amusing.  Charging up a baseball bat to deliver some zombie smack down never got old.   I also enjoyed the different types of zombies. I think I rather enjoyed being tossed across the map from the belly of a toxic zombie.  Okay, maybe not.  I also enjoyed the overall design of the game and its characters.  My favorite character was Luxo.  I would’ve given anything to hear him throughout the game but All Zombies Must Die! doesn’t have any voice-overs.

Each level requires you to do some dastardly deed for the gatekeeper.  They’ll be things like finding hamburgers, killing a certain amount of zombies etc.  Once you do that, you’re free to just destroy as many zombies as you can to get your character as strong as you can.  The one little caveat to that though is the fact that you can only upgrade your character in a certain spot.  I went quite a way with built up XP before I could level up my character.  I’m not sure if it mattered much because I was too busy enjoying the 4-player co-op of the game.

I’m a big fan of these top down 4-player games.  When you can play with friends on the same map and in the same crazy zombie world, it’s a lot of fun.  I would’ve enjoyed some online action but unfortunately there is no online play.

Conclusion

All Zombies Must Die! is about as fun as it gets for people who love kicking it with a buddy and enjoying some 4-player co-op madness.  Did I mention you can kill zombies until your fingers bleed?  For only 800 Microsoft Points it’s just about the best value in the market when it comes to zombie terror mixed with co-op fun.

I do wish there had been an online component but playing with a buddy who stops by is lots of fun too.  I have a new love for toxic waste now thanks to Double Six.  Those damn belly bursting zombies were no fun!
