Xbox 720 headed for a reveal at E3 2012?
Are you ready for a look at the next Xbox? There are rumors scattered around the Internet that Microsoft will reveal the first bit of information about its next console at E3 2012 this year. I was planning on attending E3 this year but I won’t be able to. (sad face)
This isn’t necessarily news as I’ve been speculating this reveal for quite some time. However, the boys and girls in the UK have cited a seriously reliable source that we will definitely see the next Xbox at E3. Along with Microsoft’s reveal, Sony is also planning to show the PlayStation 4.

Are you ready for the Xbox 720? We can begin to speculate now about specifications and games so let’s go! Whatever the specs are I hope that they don’t show a regular DVD9 disc drive in it. That will be unacceptable if the next Xbox doesn’t embrace some new format to increase the size of these discs games are made on. It probably won’t be Blu-ray but it has to be something.
As far as games go, I don’t expect we’ll see that revealed at E3 but I anticipate a new Halo, Forza and a Diablo 3 showing for the next Xbox. Maybe even the first workable MMO for Xbox 720?
What about the PS4? How is Sony going to combat the launch of its next console with the “last out of the gate” failure the PS3 endured?
What say you?

It will be interesting how much more Microsoft and Sony can push the technology. Sony has been struggling with the PS3 (and the Vita) so they need a backup plan.

Don’t know why I am even “feeling” surprised. I mean 5 years (well six) and the mountains of rumors…and just this month I upgraded to a slim60 :O
I knew this would happen. Yay for tech moving forward.
/pops firework. A lame one.

Industry people are mentioning next gen more and Epic already started with the “What we’ll do next gen” videos so I wouldn’t be surprised to be teased this year. I feel like both company’s will make a bigger leap spec wise then they have in the past since they now have new ways to create revenue instead of just games and can survive longer between consoles.
I’m totally calling a hybrid blu-ray/HDDVD drive in the next Xbox just because they can! :p From what I understand HDDVDs can be produced in DVD factories and there’s not to many HDDVD drives left out there since it’s not main stream so it’ll help security wise. Hybrid drives were out before HDDVD died and enough time has passed for them to refine the existing tech and make it cheap. They could just use a Blu-ray drive though…
Pancake batter is floating in my room, why? O_O
