To say that the recent beta for Battlefield 3 was a letdown for many is probably a huge understatement.  I’ve played the beta about as much as I could take considering the amount of fail included.  Let’s just be honest .. the beta just isn’t that good.  It didn’t showcase Frostbite 2 nor did it give you any single reason to want the game.  Does that mean it will reflect the quality of Battlefield 3 when it releases in 2 weeks?  It doesn’t necessarily mean that but you can’t convince Joe, the ordinary consumer of that.

I’ve played Battlefield 3 in all its glory on PC.  The game is as smooth and awesome to play as any I’ve ever played.  But that was on a PC that most of us probably can’t afford.  I had my worries about the console version after EA failed to show the Xbox 360 version at any event.  The PS3 version was good but even it had problems that many felt during PAX Prime.  Was the console version of the game just not a good port?  DICE probably doesn’t want to make a port of its popular PC franchise but with the head-to-head campaign EA launched at Modern Warfare 3, the console version must go on.

Modern Warfare 3 has been riding a ridiculous wave of media momentum since its Call of Duty XP event.  There’s no doubt that people are biting their finger nails in anticipation of its release.  What it seems like now is that many of the people who were on the fence about Battlefield 3 or Modern Warfare 3 before the beta’s release, are now firmly planted on the MW3 side now.

I’ve spoken to quite a few people who were really disappointed in the BF3 beta and they’ve since killed their pre-order of the game.  Some of them even understand the fact that it’s a beta.  They just didn’t like what they played beta or not.  My question is why would EA opt to do a map that does nothing for Frostbite 2 or the series?  It was the worst possible map and scenario to choose from to show your game to millions.

So where do you stand now post-Battlefield 3 beta?  Are you sticking with the game in hopes that what you played was truly nothing like the final experience?  I suppose there may be a few of you who have switched from Modern Warfare 3 to BF3 after loving the beta.  Or are you convinced that EA and DICE have no time to drastically change it so you’re headed to warfare of the modern kind?
