They call me "The Velvet Voice". I'm a Microsoft Xbox MVP ... I like sunshine, games and large amounts of money. You can follow me on Twitter or Google+ .... but be warned, sometimes I talk about some ridiculously random things.
SugarRy : Technically my son owns it already since I bought it and its all in the same house, but i am not as upset with that as long as the game will still play from disc.
IRISH : well if the hdd is only 500 gbs I dont want to install all my games anyway
DeaconBlade : once you tie that disc to an install, it can't be installed freely anymore without a fee
SugarRy : Ok, better then alternative of no using. LOL
DeaconBlade : if your son wants to own the game, he'll have to play it
DeaconBlade : it won't work that way on installs Sugar.. just think PC.
IRISH : cause I have no idea why MS wouldnt have calmed us all down already about this issue
Nanakai : Well they need to fire Phil Harrison and get you spreading the word, because he's making things worse right now
DeaconBlade : i'd say some shit like "trust me, it's not" lol
SugarRy : If its installed on my console and tied to it. My son wants to install on his. Can he still install on his but do the DRM check with the disk in the drive and not buy if he wants to run off the HDD.
DeaconBlade : Gamefly, Gamestop etc will still conduct business as usual
DeaconBlade : they're not saying anything right now because they want their verbiage to be right
Nanakai : And that if you can still rent disc based games, but have an option of buying it to your console?
DeaconBlade : yes Astrid that's what MS wants to do .. charge you for "installing" not for playing it .. he can play it all he wants but when he attempts to own it by installing to his hard drive, then he'll get the fee option
DeaconBlade : don't you think i'd have sworn off this shit if it were true and I couldn't loan my game out
x352x pH : MS needs to clear the air instead of letting this shit stew then
Nanakai : So you're saying it's as if a friend can make a legitimate 'purchase' of your disc by copying it to their HDD, if they want to own the game for themselves?
DeaconBlade : lmao dude ... i'm Mr. Xbox i'm always right
IRISH : I pray to the baby jesus u are right about this DB lol
DeaconBlade : what you guys are expecting is discs will no longer matter and this is ushering in the digital age. it's not
DeaconBlade : dude the game can be played for infinity from the disc
x352x pH : will it be a trial? like hey you can play this game for a bit and if yu like it pay the fee, ala old school DIVX?
DeaconBlade : it's really no different than right now, they're just doing it differently
Nanakai : So swap friend in a different house with family member with their own Xbox in the same house, and you have the exact same issue Sugar has. Make me a random person buying a used game from a shop, rather than the lending friend, and you have the not playing pre-owned issue
DeaconBlade : as such he'll have the option of buying that game from your disc if he chooses to "own" that game as in installing it also on his hard drive
DeaconBlade : you buy a game, choose to install, it'll tie it to your console .. cool no worries. you give that game to a friend and if HE tries to install it, he won't be able to BUT he WILL be able to play from disc
SugarRy : My exact same questions to Deac all day and he said it will not work that way. How he knows the world will never know.
IRISH : thats what Im seeing as well Nan ... me no likely that
Nanakai : already been activated. So now I'm asked by Microsoft to pay the full price of the game for a new code, before I can play it myself. This is basically what is being described at the moment. Which part of that isn't right, according to what you know Harris?
