Is Square Enix racist?
That’s the word on the streets today as a few people take a shot at Square Enix and Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Watch the video below to see a character in the game called Leticia. She (or rather he) is a character you come across in the game who speaks in “jive”. Some are claiming the character to be “a negative representation of African Americans” and a poor decision from Square Enix to allow.
What say you? Personally I’m more offended of the voice actor and dialogue they’ve chosen. It stinks. They could’ve had at least a more decent person do the voice work for the character. It’s comical to me. And I don’t want to mention how stale the character’s design is.
Square Enix did respond to the controversy saying, “Deus Ex: Human Revolution is a fictional story which reflects the diversity of the world’s future population by featuring characters of various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds,” the statement reads. “While these characters are meant to portray people living in the year 2027, it has never been our intention to represent any particular ethnic group in a negative light.”
What say you?

I’m more offended by the main white character butchering a wannabe Clint Eastwood voice…. As for the black character… Don’t you know he’s from New Orleans? Even the White people there talk like that. lol

So what that guy is claiming, is that when I or anyone else plays the GAME; outside of just playing, we would be perceiving that character to be a factual representation of a real ethnic background? Please, the world needs to be rid of these fucking people. They even had to change a Pokémon design as it was deemed ‘racist’
