Disney dropping the axe on Black Rock Studio

This is sad, sad news to me.  I’m a big fan of Black Rock Studio!  I loved both Pure and Split/Second.  I was hoping for sequels to both but if that happens, it won’t be because of Disney.  Who knew the folks behind the lovable Mickey Mouse could be so cruel?  Ah who are we kiddin’…it’s a tough world out there and even Disney can drop the hammer.

Once Black Rock Studio is officially dead, we’ll see a new birth in Roundcube Entertainment lead by Split/Second director Nick Baynes, and ShortRound Games – formed by a quartet of previous Black Rock department directors.  So perhaps there is still hope for my Pure and Split/Second sequels.

I actually bought both Split Second and Pure. Both great games! I was looking forward to a Split Second 2. Oh well. :(
