E3 2011 is in full swing and the latest out of the entertainment volcano are the details surrounding the Horde Mode in Gears of War 3.  After reading up on them I’m not too fond of a few things but I’ll let you decide if you’re on board.  I’ll be playing this game for months and months regardless but I’d like to have the best experience possible.  These new changes to Horde Mode don’t seem like it’ll do justice to my favorite mode.

- a cash system is being implemented that will allow you to “buy yourself from death” if you ever die that is
- the cash system will also be used to buy weapons and fortify what is said to be some sort of command post/armory
- Boss Battles will replace what you’re normally used to seeing in each 10th round
- new Challenges are being implemented that present a series of challenges you can essentially try to compete to earn cash
- you’ll be able to purchase tower defenses like turrents, sentry guns and barriers

I’m not sold at all on the new cash system.  I don’t want to have to earn enough money for weapons or have enough money to buy myself back from death.  When I die, I want to die.  And I want to be able to concentrate on just kicking Locust ass…not how much loot he’s dropping.

I also don’t know about buying stationary towers to help me defend the waves of Locusts.  If they’re making this extremely difficult with a shit ton of Locusts then okay, I’ll likely need all the help I can get.  But if I’m on Normal difficulty then having a turrent mowing down Locusts before they even get to me will just be too much in taking from the survival element.
