E3 2011, first day highlights
Let’s keep this pretty simple. If you haven’t listened in on yesterday’s daily show, check it out! We hit the highlights of gaming’s big news yesterday. I figured I’d do a recap just in case you missed any of the news.
E3 2011 Day One
- Halo 4 is coming (surprise)
- Halo CE remake is coming (surprise)
- Tomb Raider looks really good
- Mass Effect 3 will have Kinect support along with several other titles like Ghost Recon: Future Solider, the next Forza Motorsport and even BioShock Infinite
- Kinect was the focus primarily with Kinect Labs (free now), Dance Central 2 being shown, Kinect Sports Season Two….a new Kinect partnership with Disney to bring Kinect Disneyland, and even Sesame Street … Fable The Journey is a Kinect only title … RYSE will be a Kinect only FPS and Star Wars as well
- new Xbox Experience dashboard coming to launch YouTube, Bing for Xbox and even Live TV (no info on subscriptions)
- Gears of War 3 LE console announced
- Sony NGP is now the PS Vita (stupid name) … it’ll be $249 for a wireless only version and $299 for a 3G version.
- lots of exclusives from Sony .. inFamous 2, Uncharted 3 (looks great), Resistance 3, Dust 514, exclusive content for BioShock, Need for Speed: RUN, Battlefield 3 and other titles
- Sony had a lot of PS Move games
- even NBA 2K had Move controls…Kobe Bryant was on stage to demo and it was a total fail both on Kobe’s part and on 2K’s part for even thinking that an NBA game could be played with motion.
- Sony has a PlayStation branded 3DTV coming out for $499 that includes Resistance 3 and some 3D glasses

- I’m super psyched for the Halo CE remake! Add HD and achievements and I can’t wait to get it!
- Halo 4, and a new trilogy. I like this idea because I want MORE Master Chief, meaning I want them to delve more into his character. I also want to see how the universe will proceed after Halo 3.
- I dont like the Kinect audio features on ME3. Maybe BioWare will implement them properly. That being said, OMG the trailer for ME3 looks AMAZING! This ME fanboy is super excited.
- The Star Wars Old Republic game trailer looked SICK-SICK-SICK!!!! Damn you EA!
- That Reckoning game from Curt Schilling’s company looks really impressive too. Seems like there are a lot of RPGs coming
- Harris you are stupid. Sony Vita is a good name, the price is REALLY good, and the system looks awesome! I’m definitely getting the WiFi version. I can only imagine how much the montly fee will be for the 3G.
- I was not impressed with the Sony exclusives. InFamous2 looked hella good.
Harris you forgot Sony’s 24″ 3D monitor which allows two players to utilize the full screen for co-op gaming, etc.

I think that Sony Vita is too little too late. Maybe if the Vita came out 2-3 years ago but now almost every IPhone, Android phone or notebook can do the same function as a Vita.
Sony is pushing 3D gaming similar to what Microsoft is pushing with motion gaming for Kinect.
