Kid charges mom’s credit card, Microsoft blamed
There are at least two confirmation screens each time you make a purchase on Xbox Live. This is to prevent you from making a mistake and to aid you in making better decisions. They quite literally beg you to make sure you know what the hell you’re doing and that you’re about to turn the corner on something you can’t go back on. But despite those warnings, some people seem to think that Microsoft is to blame for purchases made on their account that they didn’t know about.
Well a kid across the pond decided to enjoy £1,082.52 worth of content at the expense of his mom’s credit card. He claimed he had no clue and the mom is blaming Microsoft for not stopping the purchases. How exactly is this Microsoft’s fault? There are even parental controls on the console to prevent spending.
Check out the story right here.
Reading is important folks.

Two fails on the mom. First for not reading up on the Xbox. There is a book inside the box telling her about the console including parental controls. Second for letting her son taking a pic with that hair. DAMN boy go get a haircut!! LOL

What a pile of shit lol, the kid clearly knew what he was doing. If he knows how to change his dashboard wallpaper to a hot woman, then he can’t be that stupid and naive. What does she expect to happen now? Microsoft aren’t going to give her the money back, because then anybody could cook up a story like this

1000+? Seriously? He probably had a good beating after that. I feel sad for that woman.

*sigh* RDBM next time when you buy something as complicated as a game console.
She said it was that amount over 6 months… wouldn’t one notice an average increase of £180 on their credit card every month, especially if, as she claims, money’s tight?! I know I would!!

@DJDatz exactly what I was thinking. I monitor EVERYTHING!

yeah mucho bs in this, trying to recoup some money from your son’s exploitation of your lack of involvement or attention to the details. At least this was just a money issue, not more serious like we have been seeing all over lately.
If you are a parent u should be letting your children know from day one that whatever it is they are doing you will be involved in, one way or another. Gaming may not be your thing but understanding what they are doing while they are online/gaming is important, they have access to more bad influence on the web than they do at schools.
Make no mistake, it is our responsibility as parents to teach our children. There is a big difference between a babysitter and a parent. She should get no money back…and Lady I think “Billy Madison” sums up your situation and plight.
“what you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.”

It’s not difficult to monitor what your kids are doing especially if you are spending time with your kids. I understand she has 2 jobs but there has to be time when she comes home and take a few minutes to get involved with her kid’s lives. When her credit card info is on the account, Microsoft doesn’t see who is making the charges. All they see is a credit card number. Total ignorance on the mother’s part.

i agree

Retards giving us British folk a bad name
.
The mum is complete retard for even allowing this to happen. Surely she’d have noticed an irregularity in the first month when she was a few hundred pounds short, especially if she’s a single mum who’s already short of cash.
“Brendan is 11 and knows his times tables but it was only when I explained to him that he realised how much money he had spent”. Maybe you should teach this boy how to fecking read, rather than count. Firstly he would have had to add MS points which you have to buy, and that screen tells you how much they cost. Then that payment has to be confirmed twice, and then he’d have had to confirm the purchase of the item twice too. So he knew EXACTLY what he was doing.
Absolute bunch of prats I hope you don’t get your money back!
Only thing I agree on is the fact that Microsoft needs to make it easier to remove credit/debit card details. I mean you can enter your card in to pay for XBOX live on the XBOX, but there is no option of removing them.

Plus if she was that strapped for cash, she’d only have a Freeview box and not a Virgin subscription
